It is Wake County and Jones Dairy Policy that homework is optional, and therefore can and may vary at individual teachers’ discretion - in terms of both the frequency of required homework assignments and nightly time limits listed below are the maximum time students should spend on homework with no minimum requirement applied.  Parents are encouraged to reach out to the individual teacher if their child is spending more than the maximum amount of time on homework as outlined below.  

 

· Kindergarten: 10 - 20 minutes daily

· First Grade: 20 minutes daily

· Second Grade: 20 minutes daily

· Third Grade: 30 minutes daily

· Fourth Grade: 30 minutes daily

· Fifth Grade: 30 minutes daily

 

*Students may also be assigned up to 20 minutes of reading time nightly which could be in addition to the maximum time limits outlined above.
