• Chess Club

    Whether you just learned how to play or are an experienced tournament player, Ligon's Chess Club is a great way to have fun, learn, and play lots of chess! Our club is sponsored by the Ligon PTA and is open to students from all grade levels. 

    When and where do we meet?  
    We meet 1-2 Tuesday afternoons each month in the Media Center.  We learn new chess skills and practice them by playing chess. We use ChessKid.com to practice and play each other between meetings.
    Are there any competitions?
    Yes, we will run our own tournaments rated by the US Chess Federation and play in local events. We will compete as a team in the Triangle Championship and the NC K-12 Chess Championship.  Some of our students will also compete in the National Championship.
