Carpool Instructions for Parents

Traffic Guidelines for the Early Learning Center @ Memory Road

Please read the instructions below carefully and share them with anyone who transports your child to or from school. The safety of our children is extremely important. With care, cooperation, and planning, students and cars can co-exist safely. We will be sharing a campus with the elementary school; therefore, it will be extremely important that you plan to arrive on or before the times below and follow the guidelines provided.   

Carpool Reminders

• The speed limit on campus is 5 mph or less.
• Always follow staff members’ directions. They will help keep children safe and keep traffic moving efficiently.
• Park in the parking lot directly across from the center designated for early learning center families; please do not park on the street in the flow of traffic. Never leave your car unattended. 
• Talking on the phone, juggling coffee cups, and signing notes can be a dangerous distraction. Please pay close attention to the task at hand.
• Do not pass or leapfrog in the carpool lane. Watch for pedestrians crossing at all times. 

ELC Parking Lot: Parking for visitors, families, and staff parking. 

Morning Drop-off: 7:15 – 7:45 am 

Directions from Pacific Drive: 

• From Pacific Drive, turn onto Memory Road. 
• From Memory Road, turn right into the center near the Early Learning Center. (See figure 1 below.)  Right Turn ONLY!  No left turns are allowed due to the flow of traffic from both schools.  
• Please pay close attention to the Early Learning Center signage, flow of traffic, and ELC traffic staff. 
• The left lane will be used for buses only. 
• The right lane will be used for cars and vans only.
• Cars should continue around the loop in the right lane.
• Buses and vendor transportation (vans) will continue in the far left lane and stop at the designated areas for loading and unloading. 
• Cars should remain in line until directed by a staff member to move to Stops 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 to unload students. 
• Once you arrive at your assigned stop, a staff member will open the door for the child and escort the child safely to their classroom. All students must exit and enter the right side of the vehicle.
• Parents should remain in their vehicles to assist with the flow of traffic. If you need to assist your child with buckling in their safety seat, please move forward to the designated areas.
• Use your turn signals to help traffic directors and other drivers know your intentions.
• Students should only be dropped off at the designated drop-off locations.  If a student arrives after 7:45 a.m., parents/guardians should park in the ELC designated parking lot and walk the child into the main office for sign-in. 
• Students should be accompanied by an adult at all times during drop off and pick up.  

Afternoon Pick-up: 2:15-2:45 pm

Follow the same traffic patterns and guidelines as morning arrival with the following exceptions: 

• Please pay close attention to the traffic flow and signage. 
• Please be sure to have your carpool # visible so it can be seen easily by our traffic directors.  
• Starting at 2:05 p.m., student carpool numbers will be called in order as families arrive in the carpool lane.  Students will line up according to the order in which their carpool numbers are called.
• Students will be at their assigned carpool stop at 2:15 p.m. Please have your carpool number on display in your car.  If the person picking up the child does not have a carpool tag, they will need to park and walk into the main office to verify they are on the child’s pickup list. 
• Please help your child to memorize their carpool number, as it will help with the flow of the carpool.  If you arrive after dismissal (2:45 pm), you will need to come to the front office to pick up your child. 

Bus Riders/Special Transportation

At dismissal, students who ride the bus or special transportation will be escorted by a staff member to the designated locations where they will wait for the assigned bus/special transportation to arrive.

Recordatorios de viajes compartidos

• Desde Pacific Drive, gire hacia Memory Road.

• Los automóviles deben permanecer en fila hasta que un miembro del personal les indique que se dirijan a las paradas 1, 2, 3, 4 y 5 para descargar a los estudiantes.
• Una vez que llegue a la parada asignada, un miembro del personal le abrirá la puerta al niño y lo acompañará de manera segura a su salón de clases. Todos los estudiantes deben salir y entrar por el lado derecho del vehículo.
• Los padres deben permanecer en sus vehículos para ayudar con el flujo del tráfico. Si necesita ayudar a su hijo a abrocharse el asiento de seguridad, diríjase a las áreas designadas.
• Utilice sus señales de giro para ayudar a los directores de tráfico y otros conductores a conocer sus intenciones.
• Los estudiantes solo deben ser dejados en los lugares de entrega designados. Si un estudiante llega después de las 7:45 a. m., los padres/tutores deben estacionarse en el estacionamiento designado por ELC y acompañar al niño a la oficina principal para que se registre.
• Los estudiantes deben estar acompañados por un adulto en todo momento durante la llegada y recogida.

Recogida por la tarde: 2:15-2:45 pm

Siga los mismos patrones y pautas de tráfico que al llegar por la mañana con las siguientes excepciones:

• Preste mucha atención al flujo de tráfico y a la señalización.
• Asegúrese de tener visible su número de viaje compartido para que nuestros directores de tráfico puedan verlo fácilmente.
• A partir de las 2:05 p. m., los números de viaje compartido de los estudiantes se llamarán en el orden en que las familias lleguen al carril de viaje compartido. Los estudiantes se alinearán de acuerdo con el orden en que se llame a sus números de viaje compartido.
• Los estudiantes estarán en su parada de viaje asignada a las 2:15 p.m. Tenga su número de viaje compartido a la vista en su automóvil. Si la persona que recoge al niño no tiene una etiqueta de viaje compartido, deberá estacionarse y caminar hasta la oficina principal para verificar que esté en la lista de recogida del niño.
• Ayude a su hijo a memorizar su número de viaje compartido, ya que ayudará con el flujo del viaje compartido. Si llega tarde al viaje compartido, después de las 2:45 p. m., deberá venir a la oficina principal para recoger a su hijo.

Usuarios de autobús/transporte especial

A la salida, los estudiantes que viajan en autobús o transporte especial serán acompañados por un miembro del personal a los lugares designados donde esperarán a que llegue el autobús/transporte especial asignado.
