Our Media Center is open from 7:05 am - 2:40 pm. You can access our eBook collection anytime you want via Destiny!
Students are welcome to come to visit the media center before school, during school hours, with their class, during lunch, and after school with a pass.

What's Happening in the Library
Our First Funded Grant of the 2024 - 2025 School Year
Hooray! Our classics section is growing! Our DonorsChoose grant for Puffin classics funded before school even began! Look for favorites such as Treasure Island and Swiss Family Robinson on the shelf soon.
Time to Fix Chromebooks & Replace Chargers
September marks the month that Mrs. Jensen fixes many students' chromebooks and replaces lost chargers. If you have a broken chromebook or a missing charger be sure to let her know.

September and October are busy months for students to come into the library with their classes for lessons. Here's what's happening for each grade:

Wires Crossed by Beth Fantaskey & Erin O'Neill Jones
Realistic fiction slice-of-life graphic novels are some of the most popular books in the Ligon Library. Wire Crossed is perfect for fans of the Babysitter's Club and Awkward. Middle schooler, Mia, is finding middle school to be filled with lots of ups and downs. Her BFF no longer wants to hang with her but her friend she made at science camp will at least be coming to her school now. With crushes, friend breakups, and lots more, how is she going to manage it all?

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien
There is a new set of The Lord of the Rings novels since the old ones that were in the Ligon Library have been read to death (quite literally, the covers were falling off the books). This epic trilogy features the peace-loving hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, and the impossible situation he finds himself in. Out of all the people in Middle Earth, he has been selected to destroy the one thing standing in the way of a complete world takeover by the evil Sauron.

Ultraviolet by Aida Salazar
This novel-in-verse features Elio Solis, an eighth grader who is struggling in middle school. With embarrassing changes to his body (thanks puberty!), a new romantic relationship to navigate, and his father trying to cram down lessons about what it means to be a man...well...it's a lot of handle.

A Separate Peace by John Knowles
This modern classic featuring a troubled friendship between two boys in boarding school is now in the library to help support our Ligon Little Blues who are enrolled in ninth grade ELA.

Timid by Jonathan Todd
This recently published graphic novel is partly based on the author's life. Cecil finds himself in a new school after his parents move the family from Florida to just outside of Boston. His older sister thinks that he should focus on making friends with other Black kids but he would just like to find a group that appreciates him for his artistic talent regardless of skin color.

Charlie Thorne and the Royal Society (#4) by Stuart Gibbs
The fourth book in the Charlie Thorne series features kid genius Charlie in competition with some sinister characters as both seek one of Isaac Newton's most deadly secrets.

History Comics: World War II: Fight on the Home Front by Kate Hannigan & Josh Rosen
If you haven't read any of the History Comics books run, don't walk!, to your local library. These comics make history come alive and this offering is no different. Chock-full of stunning full-color illustrations, expect to understand all the ins and outs of what it was like to live in the United States during WWII by the time you are through with it.

A Game of Noctis by Deva Fagan
If you like Six of Crows, Caraval, or The Hunger Games then this book is for you! In Dantessa, all are riveted by Noctis, a game that holds lots of ways for competitors to die but rich rewards if they should succeed. In fact, the entire society is based on your standing in the games. This is gamification gone very, very wrong!

Egyptian Myths: Meet the Gods, Goddesses, and Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt by Jean Menzies
This oversized book is filled with beautiful, vibrantly colored illustrations portraying some of the myths of Ancient Egypt. A great fit for those who enjoyed Rick Riordan's Kane Chronicles. If you are interested in mythology, be sure to check out Menzie's other books: Greek Myths, Goddesses and Heroines, and Norse Myths.
