My name is Ashley Shaffer and I am incredibly excited to join the Oakview Elementary family for my 9th year of teaching!

 

I am a proud Pirate alum from East Carolina University where I graduated with my B.S. in Elementary Education. Right after graduation, my husband and I moved to Seattle, WA where I taught for 4 years (technology, 2nd grade reading, and kindergarten). I earned my National Board Certification and then decided to stay home for the toughest teaching job of all: parenthood! After 7 rainy, but wonderful years in Seattle, we made the move back home to North Carolina. For the past 4 years, I have enjoyed my time as a PreK teacher at a private preschool in Cary.

 

When I'm not at school, I love spending time with my family and our dog, Pepper. (My 2 boys are proud Oakview Owls too!) I also love camping, kayaking, reading, and most anything that has to do with food. :)

 

I truly believe that this is going to be an OWLSOME year full of opportunity for everyone here at Oakview. That's what makes each school year so wonderful, all of the exciting possibilities ahead!
