• Welcome to Durant Road Middle School, home of the Dolphins!  DRMS follows a single track 4 year-round calendar.  A single track 4 calendar is an alternative to the traditional calendar providing breaks throughout the school year prioritizing family and providing students rest without losing academic ground.  In a single-track year-round calendar, students attend school for nine weeks and enjoy a three week track out prior to returning to learning.

Durant Road Middle School is a dynamic, diverse, and thriving learning environment where students are leaders, critical thinkers, and collaborators within the learning process.  The faculty and staff at Durant Road Middle School are dedicated and committed to providing rigorous and intentional instruction while building strong relationships with all stakeholders.  Our goal is to cultivate an environment of learners who are eager to acquire new knowledge, who are equipped with a solid academic foundation of skills, and who are prepared to embark upon innovative learning endeavors in a world characterized by constant change.

In addition to rigorous classroom experiences, Durant Road Middle School Dolphins are having fun at school. Our engaging instructional activities where students have an opportunity to share their voice, club and extracurricular offerings, and athletics programs are just a few of the exciting learning opportunities that are inspiring our middle schoolers to connect and apply their academic and functional skills to real world context.

As part of the DRMS School Improvement process; our vision, mission, and values reflect our school community’s current beliefs and priorities, which are aligned with the Wake County Public School System’s Strategic Plan. The Durant Road Middle School Improvement team focuses on our priority objective to increase student achievement, while eliminating the achievement gap among student subgroups. Key processes and action steps have been developed to support progress-monitoring our students’ learning to inform deliberate and purposeful instruction within our classrooms.

Vision: Durant Road Middle School will provide a creative, challenging, safe environment that will produce positive future leaders and lifelong learners who are critical, creative thinkers that problem solve so they can become productive citizens in an evolving global community.

Mission: Durant Road Middle School will provide a relevant and engaging education and will graduate students who are collaborative, creative, effective communicators, and critical thinkers.

Values: We believe every student is uniquely capable and deserves to be challenged and engaged in relevant, rigorous, and meaningful learning each day. We believe every student must be expected to learn, grow, and succeed while we will eliminate the ability to predict achievement based on socioeconomic status, race, and ethnicity.
