• Institute of Agribusiness Leaders

The Institute of Agribusiness Leaders prepares students to immediately enter any business field with real-world experience in high school. It is designed so students can pursue their interests through unique opportunities not already offered through regular course offerings. Students complete the baseline requirements, including completing the courses listed on our curriculum page, 1 job shadow experience, and 1 internship. Other requirements, such as lunch & learns, off-site learning experiences, and work-based learning projects vary by grade level and are conducted mainly during academy classes.

    Career Academy

Career Academies are personalized small learning communities within a school comprised of a small group of students and teachers for four years. Academy classes are usually blocked back-to-back in the daily schedule, and students attend them as a group. Students are able to complete academy requirements within the regular school day, with the exception of work internships. Career Academies are open for rising Freshmen. Applications are accepted on a rolling admissions basis.

Students who are admitted to the Career Academy will begin taking a sophomore-level career/academic cohort class to show the applications of academics in real-world situations. After investigating their career interests and completing an entry-level career academy course, students agree to commit to the Career Academy for the remainder of their academic career. This commitment will culminate in an internship during the student's senior year at a local business to see how all of their studies apply in a “real world” situation.

In compliance with federal law, Wake County Public School System administers all education programs, employment activities, and admissions without discrimination against any person on the basis of gender, race, color, religion, national origin, age or disability.
