If I sign up, am I locked in for four years?

We truly believe that high school is a time for students to discover their passions and future career and college options. If, at some point, you determine that your interests have changed or outside factors make continuing in the Academy not the best option for you as a student, we will work with you to get you settled into a program that better fits your needs.

Does this really mean that I can't do other programs like band or the Diploma Programme?

The short answer to this is that you will probably be able to do the Academy along with other programs around campus. We have specifically designed the course sequencing to be a model of best fit with other programs on campus. We do know though that for some students there will have to be choices made along the way and we will address them on a case by case basis always through the lens of what is best for the student. We currently have students in band, chorus, ROTC, sports and that plan to participate in the Diploma Programme.

Is there a cost for participation in the Academy?

There are small dues each year but our booster organization will work to support students that need assistance in payment. The same is true for any required field trips.
