Wake Tech Career and College Promise Dual Enrollment

-
Career and College Promise Website
- CCP is available to Athens students in grades 10-12. Students should follow the steps outlined below to complete the CCP Application:
Step 1: Before getting started, make sure you are eligible.
- Students in grade 11 or 12 are eligible if they have a 2.8 unweighted GPA or higher.
- Students in grade 10 must meet eligibility requirements for their chosen pathway. (More info on this below.)
Step 2: Choose your pathway
Available Pathways
-
- College Transfer Pathways are designed for high school students who wish to begin earning college credit towards Wake Tech's University Transfer degree programs which are intended for eventual transfer to a four-year college or university. These pathways allow students to transfer credits from North Carolina community colleges to UNC System institutions. This link shows Wake Tech courses and their potential dual enrollment options on your Athens transcript. This link shows Wake Tech courses and their potential GPA weight for your Athens transcript. Find the course you are interested in and check the number in the "GPA Added Value Column". Most classes in this pathway carry an additional 1.0 credit weight on your GPA (the same as AP courses). A 0.5 is weighted like an Honors course, and a 0 is a standard course. All courses taken in this pathway will be added to your transcript - whatever you earn at Wake Tech, is what is added to your transcript at Athens, no matter the outcome! (Note that this link has all NC DPI course codes, but students are only eligible to take classes in their pathway.)
- If you are a 10th grader, you will need to prove your AIG eligibility for any College Transfer pathway. You need to email Ms. Pearson at jnpearson@wcpss.net for your ISP (individualized Service Plan) to show you are academically gifted. If you have not been identified as AIG, you MUST prove your eligibility through test scores. You must qualify in both English and Math. There are four areas of the CTE pathway that you do not need AIG eligibility for - please see the information here for the most up-to-date information.
- Career and Technical Education (CTE) Pathways lead to a certificate or diploma aligned with a high school career cluster. It is designed for students who want to work toward the completion of a credential before graduating from high school. This link shows available Wake Tech courses that can also be included on your Athens transcript. These courses carry the added weighted point value referenced in the chart towards GPA (standard = 0 added, honors = 0.5 added, college/AP = 1.0 point added). Courses taken from this chart WILL be added to your high school transcript, regardless of the grade received, but most do not transfer to 4-year institutions. Here is another updated list - CTE Course Weighted List - if you cannot find the course you are interested in.

Students will register for classes on their own, but you can get help from Ms. Pearson or a CCP Advisor. However, students should not drop classes prior to discussing with Ms. Pearson as this can negatively impact your high school GPA. No matter what Wake Tech says, do NOT drop courses without permission from Ms. Pearson!
Step 7: Submit all your forms
- All Dual Enrollment students MUST give the following documents to Ms. Pearson in Student Services:
- Dual Enrollment Form - this must be completed for every course you take through CCP
- A screenshot of your Wake Tech course schedule from your Wake Tech Web Advisor account showing the course(s) you are registered for in each semester.
- If you are requesting Early Release/Late Arrival due to CCP, you must complete the Early Release/Late Arrival Form. This is only an option for Juniors and Seniors. Sophomores are not eligible for schedule reductions for CCP courses.
