    What is Pat Time?

    Pat Time is a flexible activity period that happens most days between first and second period.  It is an opportunity for students to gain additional help in a course, engage in a club or interest activity, or to simply engage in some silent study.  

     

    What are the primary goals of Pat Time?
      

    Pat Time grew out of an acknowledgment that we as a school needed a better structure to ensure that ALL students had access to the following during the school day:

    • support and enrichment in their courses beyond the typical classroom time that is available.
    • access to engage in clubs and student activities regardless of their commitments outside of the school day.
    • an individualized opportunity when needed to simply have a moment of pause to better find balance as a student. 

    How does Pat Time work?
     

    Students will sign up for their desired sessions using an application called All Timely.  Students can tell what the sessions are and who is able to attend by using the naming structure -- TYPE OF EVENT:  Name of Event (Who can attend).  For example, CLUB:  Drama Club (all welcome) will indicate that a club, Drama Club, is meeting and all students are welcome.  Another example may be SUPPORT: Precalculus (currently enrolled with Smith) where academic support is being offered for Precalculus and the session is open to current students of Mr. Smith.
      

    Where students are falling behind in a course, their teacher, administrator, or counselor can assign them to specific support sessions and limit their choices.  Parents who wish to provide input / guidelines on their student's sessions should contact their student's administrator.

    At the beginning of each semester, students will report to a Pat Time session for each course they are taking in order to better understand how they can use this structure to support their success in that course.  Also, at the midpoint of the semester, students will engage in Pat Time sessions for each class to engage in academic conferencing on their progress.
