  • Single Subject Acceleration (SSA) Information for Parents

     

    Single Subject Acceleration (SSA) is the practice of placing a student in a higher grade level in one subject area. This type of acceleration is for the purpose of providing access to appropriately challenging learning opportunities in either Math or English Language Arts.

    Important Dates:

    • Test request window:  January 5-23

      • All test requests MUST be submitted using the WCPSS Google form (link coming Jan. 5th). The form will only be available January 5th through 23rd.  Wake County will turn off access to the form at the end of day January 23rd.  

     

    • SSA Testing window:  March 17-27

  • Single Subject Acceleration (SSA) is an acceleration opportunity provided for enrolled and attending Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) students.  As outlined in Board Policy 3422,  K-8th grade students who meet specific criteria in Mathematics or English Language Arts (ELA) have the opportunity to accelerate in one subject area.  Only students who are currently enrolled and attending a WCPSS school during the open nomination and testing window are eligible to be considered for SSA.
