Students work on their training for sports with Coach as they collect data and chart their progress in the run club.  They generate leaders of all grade levels as they encourage one another to be successful in the time they have together.

Students apply to be leaders in the Media Center.  They check in books, file items, as well as help out students as they come in the morning with tech needs or book issues.

Students enhance their math skills through the use of gaming.  They record their data and challenge opponents to some tournaments.

Ambassadors in 5th grade have the opportunity to participate in leading the school's recycling club.  They will collect materials, teach classrooms the proper way to recycle, and help promote recycling on campus.

In the fall and spring our school will be offering recreational leagues to enhance the 4Cs, build community, and have scholars solve problems with athletic games.

KidzArt (Thursdays 4:00-5:00)

We are pleased to announce that KidzArt after-school sessions are returning to York ES. If you’re not familiar with KidzArt, it is a drawing based program that uses artist quality materials. It focuses on the following:

• A nurturing, non-competitive environment

• Easy-to-learn drawing techniques that bring ideas to life

• Introduction to contemporary and visual art that sets the stage for a lifelong appreciation of the visual arts

• Age-appropriate, safe, professional-level art supplies that easily adapt to tools of self-expression

• Creative activities that promote problem solving

• Focusing exercises that enhance learning

• A recognition of individual style that is welcomed and celebrated.

• After participating in KidzArt, confidence grows and skills develop that carry over into other areas of study. Students find themselves trying things they never would have attempted before.
