AIG

  • AIG Services - Fall Testing Window

Throughout the school year, students in fourth and fifth grades can be nominated for evaluation for the AIG Program in ELA and/or math. *All current 2nd and 3rd graders will be screened with the Cognitive Abilities Test during the 2024-2025 school year as part of the WCPSS universal screening.  Select students will then take the IOWA Assessments in reading and math. The nomination deadline for the fall testing window is October 4th, 2024. Testing will be the week of October 21, 2024. Nominations received after the nomination deadline will be considered during the spring semester testing window.

All relevant data and work samples will be reviewed for each nomination by the School Based Committee for Gifted Education (SBCGE) to determine next steps for the student. Student data and work samples will be reviewed as well.  Referrals for testing will be made if student data and current grade level enrichment work samples indicate a student may score at or above the 95th percentile, and there is a need for gifted services.
The committee will determine if a student should be:
    • Referred for Further Evaluation (additional testing data is needed)
    • Referred for Further Portfolio Review (Testing and other necessary data is already available)
    • Not Referred (Additional differentiated service is not appropriate at this time)
Please send an email to our AIG teachers (Mrs. Drager - ldrager@wcpss.net or Mrs. Johnson - akjohnson@wcpss.net) if you would like to nominate your fourth or fifth grade student or have any questions.
