• Volunteer at Poe!

  • Volunteers play an important role in our school district.  We are grateful to parents and community members who contribute their time and talents to supporting our students.

    Per WCPSS Board Policy 5015: School Volunteers, the school board encourages principals to develop and implement plans and procedures for utilizing school volunteers, including those who wish to volunteer in a virtual capacity. Principals continue to have discretion to determine whether volunteers are needed and are encouraged to use volunteers when needed.

    All volunteers must pass criminal history and sexual offender registry checks and comply with WCPSS Board policy 5020: Visitors to the School.

  • familiesPoe welcomes community partners who wish to volunteer in our school,  working one-on-one with students to help them reach success. People who  want to help children will find many ways to volunteer at our school. They  might help in the classroom, in the office, in the library or in the computer  lab. We need adults to help personalize learning for students and help  children see where today's classroom lessons apply in the community.  
     
    We also encourage members of our community to get involved in our school to help us better serve all of our students. Once thought to be the  province of parents, our school is eager to involve the entire community  including individuals, senior citizens, college students, businesses, churches  and synagogues, community groups and others in support of education!
     
    To become a Poe Magnet volunteer, please visit us any day from 9-3  where you will be asked to complete an online registration process in our Media Center.  The  application requires a driver's license number as well as addresses from the  previous seven years.
