  • Prinicipal Message - Apr 10 - Social Media Clarification

Posted by Wade Martin on 4/10/2025

Hello, this is Wade Martin calling from WSHS with a quick update for our families to clarify a recent social media post that is circulating around our school community.

We have been informed that some false information has been posted on social media regarding a policy change at school related to our tardy consequences.  I am contacting you to let you know that this information is false.  We are not assessing fees to students for being tardy to class or absent from school.  We are working with the WCPSS staff to find the source of this inaccurate information.  I want to encourage our families to rely on receiving updated official information from our school through my weekly principal messages and postings on our school website.  If you receive any information from social media that may not have been directly shared by the school, contact me with questions first before reposting as being true.

Thank you for your continued support of our school and as always, Go Storm!

Hello, this is Wade Martin calling from WSHS with the Spring Break Friday Storm Report.

    • On Thursday before break, students were given a copy of the courses that they selected for the 2025-2026 school year.  Please review these selections with your student and carefully read the important information on the back of the form.  There is a QR code that you can use to make any changes by April 10th.   This is the time for students and parents to carefully and thoughtfully choose the core and elective courses they want to take next school year.  After the April 10th deadline, changes will not be honored for any electives.

    • Just a reminder that Willow Spring High School is excited to offer Category 5 Sports Camps this summer! These camps provide young athletes with the opportunity to train with high school coaches and athletes, build confidence, and develop skills in a fun and supportive environment. From soccer and basketball to cheer and football, there’s something for every future Storm athlete! Spots are limited, so sign up today! Be sure to check on the Willow Spring High School website under Athletics to get registered today!

    • The April PTSA meeting will be on Tuesday, April 8th in the Media Center.  We hope to see you there.

    • Lastly, I hope everyone had a safe and restful Spring Break.  Please remember, April 7th is no longer a teacher workday so we will see everyone back in school on Monday ready to start the 4th quarter!

Make it a great closing weekend to Spring Break.  Go Storm!

Posted by Wade Martin on 3/25/2025

Hello this is Wade Martin calling from Willow Spring High School.  I am calling all 11th and 12th grade families to remind parents and students that tomorrow is the last day to turn in Prom Applications.  These applications have been available for students for weeks, weeks and weeks now and tomorrow is the deadline.  Please be sure to read the directions carefully if your student is planning to bring a non-WSHS guest, as there are some additional steps to the application process.  We are looking forward to an awesome event this year, so get that application turned in tomorrow if you are planning to attend.

Make it a great night!  Thanks and Go Storm!

Hello, this is Wade Martin calling from WSHS with the Friday Storm Report.

    • Next week our Arts Department will showcase our Spring Musical, “Once Upon a Mattress”.  The show will run from Thursday, March 20th through Saturday, March 22nd.  Information about how to purchase tickets for the show are linked at the top of our school website.  We hope to see you there for this wonderful student performance!

    • Student registration is still underway.  Please be sure to communicate with your student about their course selections for next school year.  Their primary choices and the alternates selected are very important as that is what we will build our master schedule from.

    • ACT Makeups for Juniors who were absent for the original testing day will be next Thursday, March 20th.

    • Lastly, if your Junior or Senior is planning to attend the prom this year, please remind them to submit their Prom Application as soon as possible.  We are verifying applications in advance of issuing Prom Tickets.  If all students wait until the last day to submit their applications,  it may delay the verification and distribution of Prom Tickets.

Have a great weekend and Go Storm!

    Buenas tardes,

Hello, this is Wade Martin calling from WSHS with the Friday Storm Report.

    • Senior Parents, we are requesting that seniors turn in all of their scholarship letters to the Student Services office so that they can be added to the class of 2025 total.  We need a copy of all award letters.  The offers you receive from colleges count for our school total whether you accept the scholarship or not.  We want them all.  We have challenged the Class of 2025 to beat the total for the class of 2024 which was 3.4 million dollars in scholarship money!

    • Just a reminder to all families that we still have parking spaces available on campus.  Parking restrictions and enforcement in the neighborhood near school are beginning to happen.  Students at our school need to be good community members and be respectful and responsible when driving near our school.  Also, the open community space field along Long Lake Drive that is connected to our property line is considered private property and is under the management of the neighborhood association.  Students should not be walking through this area to access campus. Students could be cited for trespassing if they continue to do so.  Let's all work to be good neighbors.

    • I would again like to remind everyone that we will operate on an amended schedule on Tuesday, March 11th while our Juniors complete required ACT testing.  Please check the link on the top of our website for details about the day.

Have a great weekend and Go Storm!

Hello, this is Wade Martin calling from WSHS with the Friday Storm Report.

    • Jostens will be on campus Thursday - March 6th during lunch to deliver cap & gown units. All items must be paid for in full before students can receive their products. Online payments must be made 48 hours prior to the delivery date.  Cash, Venmo, CashApp and money order only will be accepted on the delivery date.  If a Senior or graduating Junior still needs to place an order, please go to Willow Spring High School FUQUAY VARINA, NC - Graduation | Jostens

    • If you don’t already have the date on your calendar, now is the time.  WSHS will host our 2nd annual International Festival on March 13th.  Be sure to check out the information on our website as that date gets closer.

    • Student registration is underway for the next school year.  Please be sure to talk with your student about their course selection.  Parents or students with questions should contact their counselor here at school.

    • Lastly, we are posting the schedule for our State required ACT testing day on March 11th.  We are following a new scheduling format this year, so please be sure to check it out on the website.

Hello, this is Wade Martin calling from WSHS with the Friday Storm Report.

    • All 10th grade students who entered the parking lottery that were selected will receive an email today to their WCPSS student email with next steps to secure their spot.  Congratulations to those who were awarded spots!  Many students who submitted their names for the lottery were not eligible for a spot as they had not paid their student dues.

    • Course registration season is moving forward quickly.  If you were able to attend last night’s curriculum open house, we hope that it answered the questions you may have about course options for next school year.  All the registration materials are posted on our website.  Our counselors will be meeting with students shortly for them to begin the process of entering their course selections into PowerSchool.

    • Spring Sports Tryouts are next week.  Good luck to all student athletes planning to try out!  Be sure you have everything needed uploaded into Dragonfly so your student can try out.

    • Lastly, just a reminder that Monday, February 17th is a teacher's workday, so there is no school for students on the 17th.

Thanks as always for your continued support of our school.  Go Storm!

Hello this is Wade Martin calling from WSHS with the Friday Storm Report.

    • We have some important information for our Seniors and Early Grad Juniors.   On February 3, Lifetouch will host Senior Cap and Gown Pictures for interested students here on campus - cap & gown provided. Interested students should see the flier on the main page of our website to sign up.  Also, on March 6,  Jostens will be here at school for our Cap and Gown Distribution - If you have not ordered your cap and gown, please visit Josten's website and place the order as soon as possible.

    • Parents of CCP students, please make sure your CCP students are checking their school emails for important information about the CCP program which students are responsible for knowing. These messages will come from Mrs. Gregorio, and students can contact her with any questions.

    • Coming up also next week, we are hosting our annual Curriculum Night on February 6th at 6:30.  This is an opportunity for parents and students to get information about the course offerings for next year as students will be starting the course registration process very soon.  Because of the States shift from PowerSchool to Infinite Campus the registration process is starting sooner this year.  There will be specific informational sessions regarding AP, CCP and the 3 year Junior Graduation programs held in the auditorium.

    • Lastly, The SECU Scholarship has been posted to the WSHS website.  One senior at WSHS will be awarded 10 thousand dollars to a NC public university toward tuition.  More information and the process can be found on the WSHS website under Counseling and Student Services, Senior Information.  ALL SECU Scholarship documents are due to Mrs. Gregorio by February 14th.  There are several steps in the process so please do not wait until the last minute.  We continually update this site for all of our scholarships, so please have your senior check on a regular basis.  See your counselor for any questions you have.

Thanks and have a great weekend.  Go Storm!

    Principal Message - Jan 10

Hello, this is Wade Martin calling from Willow Spring High School with the Friday Storm Report.  Happy New Year to all of our families.

    • As you know, today was the last day of class for the first semester.  Exams start next Monday, January 13th.  The exam schedule is posted on the school website homepage under Storm News.

    • Some important reminders about exam week include:

      • We test one class period each day with Friday, Jan 17th being the exam make-up day.

      • Students can not be checked out of school during the required 4 hour testing window while we are administering State Exams, even if your student is not taking a State Exam.

      • If your student is exempt or does not have an exam, they do not come to school

      • Busses on Monday - Thursday run at 11:45 once students have completed testing

    • If we have a delay on Monday due to inclement weather - water refreezing on roads Sunday night - we will start testing later and have a plan to be able to provide lunch to students who need a lunch.  Students are permitted to bring water and a snack if they would like into testing rooms, as the lunch time may be earlier or later than they are used to, so that we can protect the required testing window of time for students to complete their exams.

Thanks as always for your continued support of our school.  Make a great weekend, stay safe and enjoy the snow!
