Third Grade

  • Welcome to Third Grade!

Third grade is a big year as students transition from learning to read to reading to learn. Our third graders learn independence and ownership through differentiated lessons that encourage deepening their thinking skills and self-assessment. Students learn respect and responsibility while working with their peers on group activities and sharing their products with other grade levels. Our students become globally aware through completing various research projects about people, places, and animals all over the world. This is a big year for growth, and we can't wait to see all that your child can do!

Third grade is also a big testing year. Students take the mClass Reading Assessments that they have taken since Kindergarten.  Additionally, third graders take the Reading BOG (beginning of grade) and Reading and Math EOGs (end of grade) as upper elementary students. We also administer the CogAT to assess students' cognitive abilities and STAR math to assess students' math skills. All of this to say, it is imperative that your child is here in the building ready to learn daily!

If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher. We are here as a team to support your child through this year of growth!
