Welcome to Fifth Grade!

  •      This year is an exciting stepping stone as we prepare students for middle school and beyond. Fractions are a dominant part of fifth grade math. It is expected that students enter fifth grade proficient in multiplication facts from one to nine. Studying science notes and vocabulary nightly will help students to understand the material necessary to successfully demonstrate mastery of Kindergarten through fifth grade concepts on the state science assessment. Students should be reading at home every night for 30 minutes. Students will work together collaboratively in each subject area to develop speaking, listening and cooperation skills. Time management, organization and good study habits are essential to being successful in fifth grade.

In the spring, fifth graders participate in a legacy art project that will be displayed permanently in the building. In addition, the year is capped off with a celebration to recognize their promotion to middle school.
