Hello!  My name is Katie Barnes and I am an intervention/AIG teacher at Oakview Elementary.

 

I am a North Carolina native - I was raised in New Bern, graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill, and then moved to Wake County to begin my teaching career. My experience as an educator includes 20 years with Wake County Public Schools as a classroom teacher in 3rd and 4th grades and as a literacy specialist.  I enjoy supporting students as they strive to establish a growth mindset, reach goals, and develop as life-long learners.

 

When I am not teaching, I love to spend my time with my husband, Stu, and our three daughters, Sloane (17), Ashley (15), and Ellis (13). I also enjoy being with friends and family, exercising, yoga, reading, watching movies, going to the beach, and listening to live music.
