    Academy of Life Sciences

The Academy of Life Sciences will provide you with an academic foundation and technical skills that will enable you to continue your education beyond high school, leading to a desirable health-related career.  This is a unique opportunity for you to participate in a small, career‐focused, learning community with other students who are interested in many of the same subjects. Applications from students to attend the Academy of Life Sciences will only be processed if the student is assigned to East Wake High School as the base school.

  • Career Academy

Career Academies are personalized small learning communities within a school comprised of a small group of students and teachers for four years. Academy classes are usually blocked back-to-back in the daily schedule, and students attend them as a group. Students are able to complete academy requirements within the regular school day, with the exception of work internships. Career Academies are open for rising freshmen. Applications are available in the spring for fall admission.

Students who are admitted to the Career Academy commit to a four-year program that includes career courses, work-based learning experiences, and an internship. Students will take cohorted classes integrating their core studies and career pathway over the four year period to show the application of academics in real-world situations. Upon graduation students receive recognition for completing the career academy program in addition to being college and career ready.

In compliance with federal law, Wake County Public School System administers all education programs, employment activities, and admissions without discrimination against any person on the basis of gender, race, color, religion, national origin, age or disability.
