Mrs. Costa is honored to lead Barton Pond Elementary School as it's founding principal. Prior to opening Barton Pond, Mrs. Costa served as principal of Brassfield Elementary School for 7 years. She holds BA, MAT, & Ed.S. degrees from UNC Chapel Hill, as well as NC Educator licenses in K-6 General Education, K-12 Special Education, K-12 Gifted Education, K-2 School Administration, and School Superintendency.

Before joining Wake County, Mrs. Costa served as a middle school assistant principal in Durham, NC. She has teaching experience at both the high school and elementary school levels, in general education and special education. Mrs. Costa is honored to collaborate with the staff, students, and families at Barton Pond to maintain a loving and enriching environment that supports students academic and social-emotional growth.
