Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Deanne Shannon

I am originally from the Detroit area in Michigan and began my teaching career there 29 years ago.  Since then, I have taught 2nd through 6th grades in Michigan, California, and North Carolina. For the past 15 years, I have taught at two Wake County Schools, Conn Magnet Elementary School and Baileywick Road.   I am so excited to meet and educate your children, and I know it will be a great school year.

15 years ago, my family moved to Raleigh. I have two daughters, Erin and Rowan, that attend college at ECU and Queens University in Charlotte.  My husband Steve is a professor at NC State in the Nuclear Engineering Department.  I have a very googy dog named Finn who keeps me busy with lots of early morning walks.  In my spare time, I love to walk on the greenway, garden, travel, and  watch hockey (GO RED WINGS!).

This year, I hope to create a safe, loving, kind, empathetic classroom in which all students will succeed and be challenged to reach their full potential.  I hope to make strong connections to my class through valuable, diverse, and enriching learning experiences.
