• Good Afternoon, Lion Families,

The bad weather did not stop us from having an awesome first week of school! Kids are learning, making friends, and building a foundation for long term success. I hope you feel the same! Please review the updates below and let me know if you have any questions. Have a great weekend!

    1. Community Back to School Bash
      • The Community Back to School Bash was a huge success thanks to the hard work of many of our parents, volunteers, and staff! A BIG shoutout to Mr. Troy Johnson, one of our awesome parents, who invested a ton of time and resources to make the event successful. We also appreciate the support of the YMCA and the Southeast Raleigh Promise! They are instrumental in helping us pull off our big events.
    2. SRES Family Handbook
      • Please take some time to review the detailed school policies and procedures outlined in our handbook at THIS LINK. This handbook includes important information about arrival and dismissal, including carpool.
    3. Carpool Tags
      • If you plan on picking up your child in the afternoon carpool line between 3:00-3:30 PM, and you need a carpool tag, please complete the form at THIS LINK. We will either give you the tag in the carpool line or send it home with your child. If you have multiple children, please list the information for each child on this form. Starting Monday, September 11, any car without a visible carpool tag hanging from the mirror will be asked to park and check out students from the front office with an ID. This is to ensure student safety.
    4. Meet the Teacher for Pre-K and Kindergarten: New Date
      • Meet the Teacher for Pre-K and Kindergarten has been moved to Thursday, September 7th, from 4:30-5:30 PM. We look forward to meeting you!
    5. 4th Grade Substitute Teacher
      • Ms. Johnson (ejohnson20@wcpss.net) will continue to serve as a long term substitute teacher in 4th grade for the time being. We are working on hiring her as the permanent teacher!
    6. No School Monday
      • As a reminder, there is no school on Monday due to the Labor Day holiday.
    7. Transportation Delays
      • It is likely that the 30 minute delay we have experienced with buses and vans this week will be the new normal, unfortunately. In general, it is likely that your child's bus will arrive about 30 minutes later than the time listed for their bus route online. If this changes, we will let you know. We apologize for the inconvenience. The late bus/vans situation is a result of bus driver shortages.
    8. Interested in Volunteering?
      • We expect to have many opportunities to welcome volunteers to our campus this year. If you are interested in volunteering with our school at some point this year, please register as a volunteer using THIS LINK. It will take a few days for your volunteer application to be processed. We appreciate your support!

    Sincerely,

    Lamar Hill, Principal
