SRES School Updates 11.10.23

1. Teacher and Instructional Assistant of the Year
   • We have an INCREDIBLE staff here at SRES, and we are excited to announce that we have selected the best of the best to represent us as Teacher of the Year and Instructional Assistant of the Year via a staff vote. Ms. Dillahunt is this year's Teacher of the Year, and Ms. Zafra is this year's Instructional Assistant of the Year! Please congratulate them!

2. Report Cards - Coming Home Monday
   • Your child should be bringing home their report card in the Monday communication folder on Monday, November 13th. Please review their report card and contact your child's teacher if you have questions. We are very proud of the hard work our students have been putting in this quarter, and we hope you will be proud of their efforts! Of course, no one is perfect, and we will continue to help your child grow and improve each day. We appreciate your support in this mission!
3. New Teacher Websites - Canvas
   • In the coming weeks, teachers will be sending home information about Canvas, the new learning management system where each teacher's website will be located. Parents can sign up to be "observers" of teacher websites in order to view important course information. In order to sign up, please review the information HERE in English and HERE in Spanish. Please contact your child's teacher with questions.
4. Club ROAR (Reaching Our Awesome Results) - After School Tutoring
   • We are hoping to start this program soon! Club ROAR is Southeast Raleigh Elementary School's after school program that provides intervention/enrichment to our wonderful students.  Club ROAR will operate 3 days of the week: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week from 3:30-5:30 PM.  A snack will be provided for all students, and transportation can be requested if needed.  If you are interested, please fill out the survey HERE.
5. Carpool Reminder
   • Please make sure you are using the official carpool lane to drop off students in the morning. We are not allowed to use the YMCA parking lot for carpool traffic. Please make sure you are stopping at the stop sign during carpool as well. We want to make sure everyone is safe!
6. Student Checkout in the Main Office
   • As a reminder, no student checkout is allowed after 2:30 PM each day due to our need to prevent disruptions to dismissal procedures. 
7. Volunteer With Us
   • If you want to be able to volunteer to chaperone field trips and help with events, please register as a volunteer using THIS LINK. It will take a few days for your volunteer application to be processed. We appreciate your support!
8. SRES Family Handbook
   • ​​​Please take some time to review the detailed school policies and procedures outlined in our handbook at THIS LINK. This handbook includes important information about arrival and dismissal, including carpool.
