    High School Career Planning

    The Career Development Process involves the completion of various activities geared to help students determine their desired direction in life, no matter their pursuit.  At Crossroads FLEX, Mrs. Kilpatrick works with all students to complete interest inventories and career services through Major Clarity and CFNC databases.  This is the initial action to be taken in order to select an appropriate career or college major.

    Steps Taken:
    Step 1: Get to Know Yourself

    • Identify interests, strengths and values

    Step 2: Explore Options

    • Research careers that directly align with interests
    • Understand industry trends
    • Research education and training necessary 

    Step 3: Get Focused

    • Make decisions
    • Set goals
    • Develop a plan of action

    Step 4: Take Action

    • Prepare resume
    • Network with employers via LinkedIn and various avenues
    • Gain experience through work-based learning (ie: internships, job shadowing)
    • Refine workplace and professional skills

    Lunch & Learn Career Chats

    Mrs. Kilpatrick invites business professionals from various careers to come and speak with our students during the 12-1pm lunch hour.  These Lunch & Learn Career Chats occur once per month during the school year.  Students can sign up using the QR code unique to each session.
