    ActivateGood.Org:
    Teen Leadership & Service Summer Program is a week-long, intensive program that will give teens the opportunity to develop leadership skills while learning about community issues.  Click here to learn more.

    Actuarial Science Camp:
    Available at Lebanon Valley College. This is a one-week summer program for rising seniors who would like to learn more about the profession.  An actuary is a business professional who uses mathematical and financial tools to help identify and manage risk.  This is a great career for students who are strong mathematically but who are not necessarily interested in teaching.  Registration usually opens in January.     Appalachian State University Cannon Music Camp:
    A three-week music-filled retreat in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, Cannon Music Camp offers the most comprehensive course of musical instruction in the Southeast, with intensive college preparatory work in performance and music theory.  Campers participate in daily ensemble rehearsals and music theory classes in an atmosphere that elevates everyone's musicianship.     Bank of America Student Leaders Program:
    Usually opens in November. As a Student Leader, you will participate in an eight-week paid internship at a local nonprofit organization where you will learn first-hand about the needs of your community and the critical role nonprofits play. In addition, you will learn valuable civic, social and business leadership skills. Each Student Leader will attend the Student Leaders Summit held in Washington, D.C. where you will learn how government, business and the nonprofit sector work together to address critical community needs.
    To become a Student Leader, you must:

    • Currently, be a junior or senior in high school

    • Be able to participate in an 8-week paid internship at a local nonprofit organization and work 35 hours a week

    • Be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship through the end of September.

    • Be able to participate in a week-long Student Leaders Summit in Washington, DC (All expenses paid. This week will be part of your 8-week experience.)

    • Be a student in good standing at your school

    • Obtain a letter of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor, or school administrator. Click here to learn more.

    Boston University Summer Programs for High School Students:
    Boston University offers several summer programs for high school students. Programs vary in duration, restrictions in age, receiving college credit and deadlines.
    As a Summer Challenge student, you can choose any two  seminars from our list of 20. Each seminar is designed to expand your academic horizons, through lectures, discussions, individual and group work, and project-based assignments - even field trips. Our intimate class sizes give you the opportunity to receive individual attention from our experienced team of college instructors.

    Campbell University Discovery Days:
    Discovery Days offers a one-day workshop to explore the health science program at Campbell. The workshop will allow you to explore topics such as Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Clinical Research, Nursing, Physician Assistant, Physical Therapy and Public Health.     Clemson University Career Workshop (CCW):
    The Clemson Career Workshop is a summer program designed to support the readiness of high-achieving students from diverse populations to enter college. Designed for rising high school seniors. CCW provides students exposure to areas in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Click here for more information.

    Clemson University Summer Scholars:
     This is an on-campus, residential summer experience for academically gifted middle and high school students. Students take a course of interest with a university instructor and study that subject through hands-on learning, experiments, lectures and sometimes even field trips. In the afternoons/evenings, scholars have the opportunity to tour and explore the campus, speak with representatives from Admissions and the Calhoun Honors College.     Duke's STAR program:
    Formerly the NCC Summer Research Experience Program, Duke's Summer Training in Academic Research (STAR) Program provides a high-quality research experience for undergraduate students, high school students, and high school teachers during the summer academic break.  The program takes place over 8 weeks and focuses on pharmaco-epidemiological research methodology and writing skills.  The program also includes an intensive medical ethics seminar on the responsible conduct of research.     Summer Springboard @ Duke University

    Summer Springboard invites ambitious high school students to Duke University for a two-week summer program on the campus.

    Students will spend time on Duke University’s campus diving into a specialized subject area with engaging instructors and industry professionals. They’ll explore central North Carolina through trips to sites like the NC State Farmer’s Market, Durham Bulls, and the NC Museum of Natural Sciences, while participating in after-class enrichment such as college prep workshops and the True You program. Living on Duke’s campus, students will connect with peers from around the world, join mentor-led activities, and take part in academic excursions to locations including the NC Legislative Building and First Flight Venture Center. Whether local or traveling from afar, students will experience Durham and Duke life from a college student’s perspective while still in high school.

    Use your summer to prepare for college, learn from renowned professors, and experience a truly international program.  Last summer, over 500 lucky high school students spent the month of July at Duke University taking classes, going on excursions, enjoying great residential activities, and making friends from around the world!

    Duke Tip Summer Program:
    Duke University's program aims to identify academically talented students and help them reach their potential. Duke TIP offers diverse summer programs that challenge students with fast-paced courses across liberal arts and science curricula. Click here for dates and more information.

    EMS Summer Program:
    Students will learn a number of EMS skills, including vehicles and equipment in the EMS system, patient treatment techniques, a visit to the Raleigh-Wake 9-1-1 center, and a ride along on real EMS calls. Click here for dates and more information.

    Habitat for Humanity Summer Opportunities:
    Habitat for Humanity of Wake County is seeking teens 16 and older to serve their community through internships and volunteer opportunities this summer! The Summer youth Build program is working with youth across Wake County to build multiple habitat homes throughout the months of June, July and August. Click here for more details. The Summer of Service Program is an opportunity for students to take on a more active and consistent role as an intern with our construction team. They will receive one-on-one training from our Construction Superintendents and a certificate of completion and reference letters to be used for college and job applications.

    Pre-College Summer Program@ Harvard University:

    Harvard’s Pre-College Program for high school students is an intensive two-week summer program designed to give you a glimpse of college life. You will live on the Harvard campus during your two-week session while taking a non-credit college-level course with other Pre-College Program students.

    iD Tech Camps, Academies & Online Summer:
    Check the link for specific application deadlines for each program. Our summer tech programs are held at an unparalleled lineup of 150 prestigious campuses including NC State and UNC. From Stanford and MIT to The University of Hong Kong, your student will get inspired and start out on their long-term skill development pathway in coding, game development, robotics, or design.  For more information click here.

    Leadership Institute for Future Teachers (LIFT)
    Held on the campus of NCSU this is a five-day invitational residential program for students of color and bilingual students who are rising high school seniors in NC. Those who are interested in enhancing their leadership skills and exploring a potential career in education. If interested, email your counselor for a nomination. The deadline for nominations is usually in February. For more information on dates and how to apply, click here.

    NC Community Development Initiative Youth Leadership Program:
    The application period usually begins in March. This is a five-week, paid internship in the nonprofit sector for rising seniors. The application period and materials for the program are available in March. Interns have completed projects such as coordinating a community health fair, assisting with creating a business plan, creating youth programs for children, building community gardens, developing community outreach campaigns and assisting with the documentation of the organization’s work in the community (via photos, video, testimonials, reports, etc.).     NC State University Shelton Challenge:
    Sign up 30 days before the start of each session. This is a six-day summer experience through NC State University for rising 9th-12th graders with a minimum GPA of 3.0 who are motivated to learn how to lead others. The cost is $700 and includes meals, lodging and curriculum. The camps run in June and July. Register before the 1st of each month for that months camp. To learn more, click here.

    NC State Study Skills Camp:
    Preparing middle and high school students for success. A camp offered in weekly sessions that covers learning strategies, test taking skills, organizational skills with a 1:7 teacher to student ratio. Click here for more information.

    NC State Summer Textiles Exploration Program (STEP):
    The application period opens in January. STEP is an exciting interactive pre-college program offered by the College of Textiles for rising high school seniors. Click here for more information.

    NC State University Summer Engineering Day Camp:
    Each summer, the College of Engineering at NC State University offers rising 9th and 10th grade high school students the opportunity to experience engineering at NC State. We offer a multidisciplinary week-long day camp that provides an experience into different fields of engineering. Teams of campers experience introductory activities then transition to work on a collaborative team-oriented challenge project. Click here for more information.

    UNC Explore @ UNC:
    Explore@UNC is Carolina’s one-week, on-campus pre-college program that lets high school students “test-drive” college life and academic paths. Over five days, you’ll learn from UNC faculty and current students, tour labs and studios, and dive into two academic tracks. It’s a hands-on way to see what different majors actually look like, from what you’ll study in college to the career paths beyond. The Explore@UNC program week is intentionally structured to show what studying a major really looks like. It starts with a guided look at campus resources, from Academic Advising to Career Counseling, so you’ve got smart questions to ask and a game plan to make the most of your week. Explore@UNC is designed as a commuter program only. Students travel to campus each day and return home in the evening. The program cost is $575 per student per week, which covers instruction, materials, program activities, and lunches provided on program days. Financial aid information is provided during registration.

    William Peace University:
    William Peace University, a historic liberal arts institution located in the heart of downtown Raleigh, is pleased to offer six summer camp selections this year. Campers can expect to have an immersive, hands-on experience and earn one (1) college credit upon the completion of the camp. Represented fields include Biology (Ecology Research), Simulation and Game Design, Musical Theater, Exercise and Sport Science and Mass Communication (Podcasting). Registration is now open!     Youth Legislative Assembly:
    YLA is a mock legislative session where high school students voice their opinions and vote on issues concerning local, state and national government. The three-day session is patterned after the NC General Assembly. At the conclusion of YLA, a final report is drafted and distributed to the governor and legislators. Click here to learn more.
