• Bulldog Blast Newsletter - Summer Edition

    Bulldog Families,

Here it is...the email you have been waiting for! Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! We are gearing up to welcome back staff, students, and families in a few short weeks! If you are new to the York family, let me be the first to officially welcome you with a huge bulldog HOWL

This link will take you to our school newsletter - The Bulldog Blast. I typically send it out every two weeks (on Fridays) once school starts up so that you can stay up to date on school happenings, important messages, and events. It has the ability to be translated into multiple languages - look for a translate tab near the top of the page. You can also find information on our school website - things like calendar dates, transportation details, school supply lists, faculty directory, etc.

    Before/After Care Registration

    • If you are in need of before/after school care this year, please join us next week on Monday 8/12 or Tuesday 8/13 from 12:00-5:00 pm in our cafeteria to register for this program. Before care begins as early as 6:30 am. After care runs until 6:00 pm. Park in the bus loop area and walk the back side of the building to the exterior cafeteria doors. Ms. Pam will be there to get your child registered and answer any questions you may have.
    • Use this address to get to the bus loop parking as it is a seperate entrance from the carpool loop entry - 5125 Berkeley St, Raleigh, NC 27612 (Brookhaven Nature Park, Address). You will see the parking lot for the nature park. When you drive through you will see the bus loop entry for York. Use the staff parking lot to park and then head along the back side of the building on the sidewalk. Any questions about before/after care please reach out to Ms. Pam via email (pacostagarcia@wcpss.net).

Meet the Teacher for students in grades 1-5 will be on Friday, August 23rd from 1:00-3:00 pm.

    • Class lists will be hanging in grade level hallways so you will know who your child's teacher is when you come to MTT. If you can't make Meet the Teacher, don't worry, you can meet your child's teacher on the first day of school. All families are welcome to walk their child in on the first day between 8:45-9:10 am.

August 27th = First Day of School for students in grades 1-5.

    • Families are allowed to walk their child(ren) in on this day.
    • After the 27th, we ask families to sign in at the main office. If a family missed this first walk-in day they will be able to walk in on their first day until Friday of the first week (sign in at main office - bring valid ID). After that we will not let families just stop by unless they have scheduled an appointment with a teacher/staff member. The same is true for if you need to speak with administration, because we value your time, we ask that you schedule an appointment so that we can be sure to give you the time and attention you deserve.

    August 27th - 30th = Kindergarten Staggered Entry

    • Tuesday, August 27: Last names A-F

    • Wednesday, August 28: Last names G-L

    • Thursday, August 29: Last names M-R

    • Friday, August 30: Last names S-Z

September 3rd = Kindergarten Meet the Teacher 2:00-3:00 pm

    • Families will sign in via the main office as we will have students on campus.
    • Class lists will be hanging in the Kindergarten hallway so you will know who your child's teacher is when you come to Kindergarten MTT.

September 4th = First Full Day of Kindergarten for students

    • All Kindergarten families are welcome to walk their child in on the first day between 8:45-9:10 am.

If you have any questions as the year continues, be sure to reach out first to your child's teacher - they are the best point of contact for daily happenings and needs. We are here as well to help answer any questions or provide support your child/family may need. It's going to be a great year!
