2026-27 Registration Guide for 10th-12th Grade Students

Course Registration Procedure
Students will register for courses via Google Form this year. Each grade-level will have their own form to complete to select their class choices. Forms will open on February 17th for students to complete. Students must be logged into their WCPSS account to complete the form. Students will be able to make edits to the form as many times as they wish until it is closed. Registration forms will close on Monday March 2nd. Counselors will begin to meet with students during their second period class to review and confirm their course selections on Wednesday March 4th.

Important Registration Dates & Timeline
February 1: Course Registration Website is available for students and families to begin reviewing course options. Students and families are encouraged to reach out to their student's counselor to begin asking questions about course options that may be the best fit.
February 17: Students will receive their course registration packets during second period. This packet will include an Unofficial Transcript, their Grade-Level Registration Worksheet, Teacher Recommendations, and a schedule of when they will meet with their counselor to discuss their course selections.
February 17: Class Registration will begin for students to select their courses for the 2026-27 school year.
Counselors will be available to help students register for classes during Pat Time on the following dates (Register Under Mrs. Evans): February 17 || February 18 || February 19 || February 20 || February 23 || February 24 || February 26 || February 27
March 4 - March 27: Counselors will meet with Rising 11th and 12th grade students during their second period class to review and confirm their course selections based on this schedule. Rising 10th grade grade students will meet with their counselor based on this schedule.
March 17: Deadline for course-specific applications
May 1: Priority deadline to guarantee schedule adjustments for Rising Seniors submitting Early Release/Late Arrival Forms
May 31: Priority deadline to guarantee schedule adjustments for Rising Seniors submitting Mid-Year Graduation Forms

Rising 12th Grade Information

Early Release/Late Arrival Form: This form is for any students who would like a reduced schedule for their 12th grade year. The priority deadline to guarantee a reduced schedule is May 1st, 2026. Note that all seniors will still register for courses as if they are here for a full schedule. After submitting this form, their counselor will update their registration to reflect a reduced schedule.
Mid-Year Graduation Form: This form is for any students who would like to graduate a semester early. All students interested in mid-year graduation should meet with their counselor prior to submitting this form. The priority deadline to guarantee mid-year graduation May 31st, 2026. Note that all seniors will still register for courses as if they are here for a full schedule. After submitting this form, their counselor will update their registration to reflect a reduced schedule.

Course Applications
Some courses require applications in order to register for the class. Students will not be able to select these classes when they register — instead, they must register for a different class, complete the course application, and then their registration will be updated upon acceptance.
Application links will be added on February 17th.
Applications are due to the course teacher by March 17th.
CTE Student Internship: Students must have an internship placement and a completed Internship Guide with all required paperwork submitted to Ms. Wooten in order to be placed in an Internship Class and receive high school credit.
Nursing Fundamentals & Practicum Honors: This is a year-long course that takes place during fourth period. Students must complete Health Science II Honors and be 17 prior to the start of second semester in order to take this course.
PEPI I & PEPI II (Grades 11-12): PEPI takes place during second and fourth period. Students can take PEPI for one period each semester - not two periods in one semester. Note that second period PEPI students attend field trips twice per month, and students in this course are required to make up any work they miss to attend a field trip.
Sports Medicine III Honors & Sports Medicine IV Honors: Students must complete Sports Medicine I & II prior to applying for these courses. These courses are designed to provide students with an understanding of the prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries occurring to athletes in an organized sports program as well as injuries occurring in lifelong sports and fitness activities. Students will gain knowledge in recognition of injuries, and through lab sessions, will have the opportunity to practice wrapping, taping, and other basic skills used in athletic training. Students will have the opportunity to observe evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of actual injuries to Apex Friendship athletes while assisting with game and/or practice coverage.
Yearbook (Grades 10-12): Yearbook is a fourth period class. Students can participate in Yearbook for either one or both semesters. Note that seniors can ONLY take Yearbook during first semester.

NCVPS Request Form: This form is for students who would like to take German or Latin through North Carolina Virtual Public School. Students will have a period on their schedule to complete this online class while at AFHS. Note that only German I, German II, Latin I, Latin II, and Latin III Honors are available for students to take through NCVPS.
Three Year Graduation Application: This form is for any students who would like to graduate a year early. All students interested in three-year graduation must meet with their counselor prior to submitting this form.

Registration Information for Students Not Attending AFHS 2026-27
If you will not be attending AFHS for the 2026-27 school year, your counselor can still help you register for classes for your new school if it is within WCPSS. We recommend you review the course registration information posted on your new school's website to learn more about how to register for courses at their school.
Students Attending Apex High School 2026-27
Apex High School will complete course registration through their course selection worksheets. Students should turn their worksheets in to our Dean of Students, Mrs. Evans, no later than Friday March 6th. Apex's Curriculum Night will be February 12, 5:30-7:15 pm, for any students or families who are interested in attending to learn more about their courses.
