Garden Club
When: Generally on the third Wednesday morning of each month from 8:30-9:00 in the garden. At times there will be changes (due to weather or school events) to this schedule, and emails will be sent out to relay this information.
What: The Garden Club teaches children the fundamentals of gardening, composting, and other sustainable practices in a fun way. Students who participate in the Garden Club will be able to help with watering, weeding and taking care of the plants in our school garden. The garden club is open to students of all ages and grades! Jump Rope Club
What is the Jump Rope Club? The Jump Rope Club promotes physical fitness through jump rope. Members will learn skills in the single rope and double dutch areas of the sport. This club is led by members of the YMCA Super Skippers group.Who? 2nd - 5th gradesWhen does the club meet? We meet after school on the second Tuesday of each month from 3:45 pm-4:45 pm. Students will meet in the Media Center after dismissal and then go outside as a group to jump. Weather may be a permitting factor. Our first club meeting will be on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.Students MUST wear sneakers and bring a water bottle to meetings. Lego League Robotics Club
Who: Students in Grades 2-5
Meetings: Wednesdays

Mileage Club
What is Mileage Club?
The Mileage Club meets at the LPES track between the playgrounds. Students will walk or jog and club leaders will tally the number of laps completed by each student. The goal of this club is to enjoy some moderate athletic activity before school and for students to set and celebrate personal goals.
When does the Mileage Club meet?
We will meet Tuesday mornings at 8:30 AM from September 10, 2024 to November 19, 2024.
As a way to celebrate our mileage accomplishments, please join us at the Turkey Trot 5K Run at Apex Community Park on Saturday, November 23, 2024. For more information on how to register, see this page.

Safety Patrol
Who can apply for Safety Patrol?4th and 5th-grade students and parents.What does Safety Patrol do?
Safety Patrols are our 4th and 5th graders who assist other Laurel Park Penguins during arrival and dismissal. Their duties include assisting kindergarten classrooms with dismissal, opening and closing car doors during carpool, holding bus numbers so students can get to the right bus, and putting the flag up and taking it down each day.
When does Safety Patrol start and how long does it last?
If selected, your child will be assigned 1-2 positions each week for the semester. These assignments will not change from July-December. We will ask for availability again in November/December to create a schedule for January-June. Morning duty starts at 8:40 a.m. and afternoon duty will end at approximately 4:05 p.m.

Student Ambassadors
Mission: To provide leadership o[opportunities to students in grades 3-5. Student Ambassadors will lead by example, follow the READY pledge, and engage in service.Qualifications: A positive attitude and outlook at school, responsible with daily tasks, good self-discipline, a willingness to help others, dependable and enjoys meeting and talking to new people.Application Process: If a student is interested in becoming a Student Ambassador, they will need to complete the application. A parent or guardian signature is required.
