• Laurel Park Elementary's Vision

In partnership with our community, we will establish and maintain a safe and culturally rich learning environment where positive relationships are fostered and all students are cared for, recognized, and achieve high academic growth.

    Value Statements:

    • We will collaborate with all stakeholders (students, staff, families, and community) to cultivate an environment where every member is valued, supported, and empowered to contribute to the success and growth of all students.

    • We will set and maintain high academic and behavioral expectations for all students to reach their highest potential while establishing active involvement and clear communication with families.

    • We will create an inclusive learning environment that effectively models ways for students to self-regulate, problem-solve, take risks, and communicate in a developmentally appropriate way.

    • We will use all performance data to determine student understanding of grade-level content and to eliminate achievement gaps by ensuring academic growth for every student.

    • We will create structures to ensure access to resources and opportunities for all students.

    WCPSS Mission & Core Beliefs

The Wake County Public School System will significantly increase achievement for all students by providing a world-class education that equips students with the knowledge and expertise to become successful, productive citizens.

    1. Every student is uniquely capable and deserves to be challenged and engaged in relevant, rigorous, and meaningful learning each day.

    2. Every student is expected to learn, grow, and succeed while we eliminate the ability to predict achievement based on socioeconomic status, race, and ethnicity.

    3. Well-supported, highly effective, and dedicated principals, teachers, and staff are essential to success for all students.

    4. The Board of Education, superintendent, and all staff, while sustaining best practices, will promote and support a culture of continuous improvement, risk-taking, and innovation that results in a high-performing organization focused on student achievement, well-being, and student agency.

    5. The Board of Education, superintendent, and all staff value a diverse school community that is inviting, respectful, inclusive, flexible, and supportive.

    6. The Wake County residents value a strong public school system and will partner to provide the support and resources to fully realize our shared vision, accomplish the mission and sustain our core beliefs.

    7. All students and staff deserve to work in optimal learning environments supported by sufficient resources, well-maintained facilities, and sustainable operational systems.
