In the Penny Road Chess Club students are taught the rules and strategies for playing chess. This club is for grades 1st-5th and all ability levels. 

Beginner: My child has never played chess and wants to learn

Novice: My child knows how to play, but is just learning

Intermediate: My child is now learning strategies for the game

Advanced: My child has a strong knowledge of the game and uses strategies to win

• Chess Club is held every Friday morning from 8:40-9:10am, starting mid October through April.   Check-in starts at 8:30.
• A $25.00 fee is required for Chess Club and includes 8 lessons from a certified chess master.
• Checks can be made out to "Penny Road PTA" or cash, along with a completed registration form.
• Please see the front office to get a copy of the Chess Club form. 
• All parents will be asked to sign up and assist with two Friday AM Chess Club meetings throughout the year.  
• Wake County Public Schools Volunteer Registration is required for parents - only takes 5 minutes and is available in the media center.
