SANDERSON ATTENDANCE POLICIES & PROCEDURES

  • At Sanderson, we believe every student should be in class every day to maximize the learning experience. Students must be in class for at least 45 minutes to be counted as present. If a student misses more than half of a class period, they will be marked absent for that class.

    • 2nd Period: Tardy 9:00–9:45 | Absent after 9:46

    • 3rd Period A: Tardy 11:13–11:58 | Absent after 11:59

ARRIVAL CHECK IN

  • Students arriving late or returning from appointments must check in at the attendance window with a note before going to class.

EARLY CHECKOUT PROCEDURES

  • NO 'WALK-UP" CHECK-OUTS PERMITTED BETWEEN  1:45 and 2:18 p.m.

DO NOT CALL OR EMAIL THE SCHOOL TO CHECK OUT A STUDENT

    • Students can only be checked out by someone listed in the student's Infinite Campus profile. I.D. must be shown.
    • If alternate/emergency contacts need to be added to Infinite Campus, please contact Ms. Batista at lbatista@wcpss.net

PLANNED EARLY CHECK OUT? Send a note in the morning.

    • Students can bring a signed note from a parent/guardian to the attendance window between 7:00–7:25 AM.
      • Note must include: student name, time to leave, reason, parent signature, phone number.

      • The student will receive a pass to leave class at the appropriate time.

      • This eliminates the need to come into the school to check them out.

      • If a student did not bring a note, a parent/guardian must come in person to check the student out.

    ILLNESS

If a student becomes ill or does not feel well, they should tell the teacher and go to the front office for assistance. The school will call the phone number listed in Infinite Campus to discuss checkout options.

WCPSS ATTENDANCE POLICIES

  • Your child’s success starts with showing up.

Coming to school every day, ready to learn, builds strong habits and supports academic growth. By law, children ages 7–16 must attend school regularly.

    Excused absences

If your student must miss school, please send a written or digital note within two days of returning.

Your child’s absence may be excused for:

    • Illness or injury

    • A death in the family

    • Health care appointments

    • Court appearances

    • Religious observances

    • Natural disasters

    • Educational opportunities (requires advance approval)

To request an excused absence for an educational reason, complete one of these forms before the absence:

    Unexcused absences

Please send a written or digital note within two days of your child returning to school. Without a note, the absence will be marked unexcused.

If your child has three or more unexcused absences, your school will contact you to discuss ways to support regular attendance.

    Making up work

Students are responsible for completing all missed work. Teachers will share schedules and expectations for making up assignments.
