    SCHOOL WIDE UPDATES 


     

    ASVAB TEST 

    Is your student interested in joining the U.S. Armed Forces and explore career options?  All interested students must take the ASVAB test. The test will be administered at Sanderson in the career center on April 30. Students should stop by the career center and sign up with Ms. Williams.  

     

    AP TESTING 

    AP Exams will be given May 4–15. 

    Week 1 (May 4–8) includes exams in Biology, Human Geography, U.S. Government, English Literature, Comparative Government, Physics 1, World History, Statistics, U.S. History, and Macroeconomics. 

    Week 2 (May 11–15) includes exams in Calculus AB/BC, Music Theory, Precalculus, Psychology, English Language, German, Computer Science Principles, and Environmental Science. 

    Students must bring their memorized Bluebook login,fully charged school issued Chromebook and chargerpencils and pens, approved calculator(s) if needed, and water in a closed container. Personal electronic devices, notes, or books are not permitted.

    LET’S TALK SPECIAL EDUCATION ON MAY 11 

    Families of students who receive Special Education Services are invited to this event May 11 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Knightdale High Auditorium. Topics will include the regional model, programming, school support, budget and allocations, and Family and Community Connections. We will also introduce Bridge Builders, a new regional communication forum that will create space for open dialogue between families and special education leadership. 

     

    MIDTOWN THROWDOWN 

    Join the Sanderson Foundation on May 16 for our fifth annual Midtown Throwdown- 2nd Pickleball Edition!  Seven Oaks is generously sponsoring six courts for this fun community-building tournament to benefit the Foundation. There will be a bracket for each level of experience: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Registration will begin at 3:00, with Play to begin at 3:30, and the fun will culminate in the grand finale Throwdown at 6:15. Prizes will be awarded to the Winning Teams in each bracket and the Throwdown Champs, as well as a fun extra prize for Best Team Costume.   

     

    Help us make your child’s school experience as positive and beneficial as possible by giving honest, thoughtful responses to the questions in our family survey now through May 15. Complete the survey once for each school where you have a child enrolled. If you have more than one child enrolled in the same school, you will only need to complete the survey once.

    CLASS OF 2026 INFO 


     

    IS YOUR CHILD IN NEED OF AN OFFICIAL OR UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT FOR COLLEGE, SUMMER PROGRAM, DUAL ENROLLMENT/CCP, PERSONAL USE, DMV, OR ANY OTHER REASON? 

    Use the online transcript request.  Counselors only send transcripts via Common App or a college application portal where the student has entered their consent.  All other needs must be done via the link above. 

     

    GRADUATION INFORMATION 

    Graduation Date: Monday, June 15, 2026 at 8:00PM 

    Location: Raleigh Convention Center 

    Tickets: Each graduate will receive 9 guest tickets 

    Live Stream: The live stream link will be added when it becomes available. 

    The Graduation Handbook is now available.

    PREPAY FOR GRADUATION PARKING 

    Highwoods Properties will be offering a special rate for all graduation attendees at our parking deck (One City Plaza Garage) which is located directly across from The Raleigh Convention Center on Salisbury Street. Attendees will also be able to prepay for parking online prior to graduation day.

    SENIOR FEES 

    All Seniors are required to pay a $30 Senior Graduation Fee ("dues"). Graduation fees cover the cost of the diploma cover, graduation stole, ceremony decor and costs, etc. This fee, as well as any other fees your SHS senior owes, can be viewed on Infinite Campus. 

    Financial hardship questions should go to your child's school counselor.

    SCHOLARHIP REPORTING 

    Have you been awarded scholarships or awards by colleges or private organizations? If so, the student should complete the Scholarship Report Form and submit copies of the award letters by May 11 to be recognized at the Senior Awards Ceremony on June 3. Each school in the district must report their scholarship total to the district office.  

     **Note: The student will need to be logged into their Wake ID account to complete the form. Parents/Guardians may assist their graduate if needed. Instructions are on the form. 

     

    WTCC RECRUITMENT AND OUTREACH REPRESENTATIVES AT SANDERSON 

    WTCC will be in the Career Center to help current seniors with their Wake Tech Admissions applications, registering for courses, career exploration, and FAFSA questions, etc.  Please encourage your students to meet with the WTCC rep for help (time 10:00am- 12:00pm). 

    April 15, April 29, May 13, May 27 

    The window to register for WTCC classes is already open, and classes fill up!  Before students select classes, they must first apply, create their Wake Tech account, and meet with a WTCC advisor to know what classes to select.

    Class of ‘26 Baccalaureate will be at Trinity Baptist Church on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at 4pm.

    CLASS OF 27 SENIOR BOOSTERS 

    Rising Senior Parents! Please join us for a Class of 2027 parent meeting on Tuesday, May 19, at 6pm in the Media Center. 

    Ms. Keane and Ms. Ward, Class of 2027 Advisors, will join us to talk about senior year events and celebrations. Come learn about all the fun ways you can help!

    IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS FOR RISING SENIORS 

    North Carolina law requires all rising 12th graders to receive a meningococcal vaccine booster before starting 12th grade. The vaccination must be completed and current immunization records updated before the 26-27 school year begins. 

    Families will need to provide a copy of their child’s immunization record showing proof that the meningococcal vaccine has been completed prior to the first day of school. This is a 2-dose immunization; the 1st dose was required in the 7th grade in Wake County schools. Please send your immunization updates to our registrar: palbertson@wcpss.net or Fax 919-670-4438 

     

    CLASS OF 2027 – TIME TO START THINKING ABOUT SENIOR PICTURES! 

    Class of 2027 families, senior year is approaching, and senior portraits are the first step in this important milestone. CADY, our school’s exclusive partner for senior portraits, has served schools for more than 25 years with a distinctive approach to senior photography, combining state-of-the-art studios, premier customer service, and magazine-worthy images that truly capture each senior’s unique story.     CADY is looking for Ambassadors from the Class of 2027 to represent their brand nationwide. Selected Ambassadors will enjoy a VIP experience, including a free Elite Unlimited senior portrait session at CADY’s state-of-the-art studio. The session includes hair and make-up styling, unlimited scenes, destination photography, and much more. Ambassadors will also receive their digital images for FREE. Once selected, they’ll create 4 video posts and 1 static carousel post across their social media accounts showcasing their Elite senior portrait experience.     ATHLETIC UPDATES 


     

    BOB CATAPANO SCHOLARSHIP 

    The Sanderson Athletic Club offers two Bob Catapano Scholarships annually (valued at $1,000 each), for a male and female student athlete. Applicants must have participated in a Sanderson athletic program as a player, cheerleader, trainer, or manager during their senior year and plan to pursue education at a technical school or a two or four-year college after graduation. 

    The criteria used in making the selection will include an assessment of the applicant’s citizenship and participation in school activities. The student should demonstrate qualities relevant to being a role model. Students applying for the scholarship must submit a complete application, including a letter or recommendation.   Applications are due by Monday, May 4th and recommendations are due by Monday, May 11th. 

    The selection of the recipients will be made by the Sanderson Athletic Club Scholarship Committee.

    As the 2025-2026 school year is coming to an end, we are actively recruiting for our open roles for 2026-2027.  Are you interested in getting more involved with Sanderson Athletic Club?    

    We are looking for individuals to fill the following roles:

    PHYSICAL NIGHT AT CAROLINA FAMILY PRACTICE 

    $10 per person, CASH only (no cards accepted).   

    All money will be donated back to your school/sports medicine program. 

    Athletes should bring forms with the HEALTH HISTORY section completed. 

    NO Scout or camp forms will be completed. 

    The event is open to middle school and high school student-athletes. 

    Any athlete under the age of 18 will need a parent present. 

    There are three event nights that your athletes can choose from: 

    • Wednesday, May 6 at CFPSM Raleigh 

    • Wednesday, May 13 at CFPSM Cary 

    • Wednesday, May 20 at CFPSM Holly Springs
