• Alternate bus stops

After the first month of school, students eligible for transportation may request bus service to or from a before- or after-school care provider instead of their home address. These requests are reviewed in the order received and apply only to the current school year. Families must reapply each year.

Because priority is given to transportation between home and school, it may take several weeks to process these requests. Please do not submit duplicates, as this can delay your initial request.

    2025–26 request start dates:

    • July 21, 2025: Year-round calendar schools (multi-track)

    • Aug. 4, 2025: Modified calendar schools and Track 4

    • Sept. 26, 2025: Traditional calendar schools

Eligibility requirements for alternate stops (Board Policy 6321):

    • No additional cost to the state

    • Childcare is in the school’s transportation area

    • Seats are available on the bus

    • Center is along a current bus route on a state-maintained road (not required for special education students)

    • Location is more than 1.5 miles from the school

    • Childcare staff are present to load/unload students

    • Buses cannot enter private childcare property

    Bus service for joint custody

Parents who share joint custody of their child may contact the student's school for information on transportation. School administrators can discuss transportation options, as well as other WCPSS services available for the student and the service that WCPSS can provide. If deemed necessary, the school administrator will then submit a Joint Custody Request on behalf of the family.

Note: Do not use the childcare transportation request form for joint custody.
