Concerns about your child's development?
Do you ever wonder if your child is growing and learning as expected? Are you unsure which skills are typical for their age?
Track milestones with the CDC app
The CDC Milestone Tracker app helps you:
- Complete a milestone checklist.
- Get tips on supporting your child’s growth.
- See when to take action.
- Create a summary of your child’s skills.
If you have concerns, you can share the summary with your child’s doctor or another provider.

Talk with an Early Childhood professional
You can speak with an early childhood professional who will:
- Answer your questions.
- Help you understand how your child is doing.
- Recommend helpful programs, activities, and services.
This is called a developmental screening. It is a short, easy process for Wake County families with children ages 3, 4, or 5 who are not in kindergarten.Call 919-694-8993 to schedule an appointment. Bring your CDC Milestone Tracker summary with you.
Preschool Child Find
If you think your child may have a disability and needs special education support, Preschool Child Find can:
- Check your child’s development at no cost.
- Offer services for children who qualify.
This program is for children ages 3–5 who are not yet old enough for kindergarten.If you have concerns, reach out to Preschool Child Find.
