Wake County Board of Education District 2 Vacancy
The District 2 Board seat on the Wake County Board of Education is vacant. Eligible citizens interested in serving on the Wake County Board of Education are required to submit all the following to be considered:
- A letter of interest, no more than three pages, outlining the candidate’s background and listing three initiatives that can be implemented in alignment with the Board’s next Strategic Plan.
- A resume
- Three letters of recommendation
- Proof of domicile in District 2. Specifically, an applicant must submit a voter registration document AND a current water, gas, or electric bill that is no more than 30 days old, establishing a domicile in District 2. If you are domiciled in the district but cannot provide the utility bill, please notify us at the email address provided no later than 4:59 PM on Thursday, January 2, 2025, so we can communicate with you about other acceptable proof of domicile.
Applicants shall meet all the requirements for holding this office, including being 21 and domiciled in District 2.
Appointment to the seat will be for the remainder of the term of office expiring December 2026.
*Pursuant to Board Policy 4100 – “Domicile” denotes a permanent, established home, as distinguished from a temporary place of residence. A person may have more than one residence but only one legal domicile. To establish a new domicile, a person must abandon the prior domicile and move into a new residence with the intent of making the new residence his or her new home. Merely owning or renting property does not establish a legal domicile.
All Documents must be received by 4:59 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2025. Failure to provide all documentation by this deadline may negatively impact consideration for this appointment.
