    • Promotes cognitive development
    • Increases empathy and social skills
    • Is entertaining (a student who loves books is never bored)
    • Is correlated with better health

  • KHSCD Students #JustReadIt: Lit Week was LIT

Our Library Media Studies students visited 38 KHSCD classrooms and 3 elementary schools for throwback read-alouds during Literacy Week. Thank you to the 17 teachers who invited us & the baseball team for joining us at Forestville ES! Many participated in DEAR time; we’d like to give a special shoutout to Candace Nelson for her dedication to the LIT life. Our students have mentioned how much they love DEAR time in her room ALL YEAR, not just during Lit Week!  Special highlights of the week were Veronica Roth’s visit (she RAVED about our school to her publisher and Quail Ridge), the many books we got at our book fair, the new cell phone charging locker, the Tap out of Tech Tuesday beach, the book spine stairs, and the VERY energetic Poetry SLAM. Our students love having a real impact on our school with their research and PBL.
