Ms. Reid
My name is Marshella Reid and I am thrilled to step into my new role as the 3rd Grade Multi-Classroom Leader (MCL). In this position, I will have the opportunity to support both teachers and students as we work together to achieve academic excellence. This marks my 6th year at YMES and my 23rd year in education. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to teach grades 2nd through 5th, interventions and serve as an academic coach for three years. I am a proud double graduate of North Carolina Central University, where I earned both my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a concentration in Mathematics and a Master of Arts in Elementary Education. In 2009, I earned my National Board Certification in Early Childhood General Education — a milestone that reflects my commitment to high-quality teaching and lifelong learning.
My teaching philosophy is a deep belief that EVERY child can succeed. I’m dedicated to creating a supportive, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment where students are empowered to grow academically and emotionally. I strive to foster a love of learning, build confidence, and help each child recognize the leader within.
I live in Raleigh with my amazing son, Blake, who also happens to be a third grader here at Yates Mill. He’s incredibly bright and full of energy, so outside of work, you’ll find us discovering new adventures, spending time with family and friends, traveling, and shopping. I am excited for all that this school year holds and look forward to partnering with families, staff, and students to make it an amazing year at YMES!
