• School Visitor Management System

To continue providing safe learning environments, all schools have upgraded their visitor sign-in procedures to a district-wide Visitor Management System. This system verifies all school visitors, checks sex offender registries and prohibited person lists for potential matches, and adds an additional layer of safety to our schools by allowing staff to keep track of who is on campus. Here are a few things to know before visiting your school:

    • Everyone visiting a school for any reason must report to the school office and check in using the new Verkada Visitor Management System. Each time a visitor arrives at a school, they will be asked to provide identifying information, including name, date of birth and having their photo taken. This information will be checked against sex offender registries and WCPSS prohibited persons databases. If they match in either system, they will not receive a badge and will be asked to leave the school.
    • For an easier check-in process, provide a driver's license or state-approved ID from any state. ID verification typically takes less than 30 seconds.
    • Visitors without an ID may be manually signed in by office staff. Providing more information will reduce the chances of a false match and make for a faster sign-in. Passports and consulate IDs are accepted, but will need to be signed in manually.
    • No personal information is stored by WCPSS or Verkada during the verification process.
    • School staff will continue to manage lists of adults approved to pick up each student. In the event of a system outage, approved adults will still be able to sign out their students.
    • As visitor procedures are updated, changes will be included on this page. Stay tuned for updates about additional languages (Spanish, French, Japanese) for our Visitor Management System.
