Middle School Curriculum
The middle school curriculum in the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) aligns with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) guidelines to ensure consistent and high-quality education across the state for middle school students. The curriculum is designed to cater to the unique developmental needs of students aged 11 to 14 and provides a well-rounded education that encompasses core subjects such as language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. In addition to the core subjects, students are exposed to enriching courses in creative learning, physical education, and foreign languages, fostering a holistic approach to learning. In conjunction with WCPSS and NCDPI, WYWLA also emphasizes the incorporation of 21st Century skills throughout the curriculum to prepare students for the modern world. The curriculum is regularly reviewed and updated to reflect current educational standards, research-based best practices, and the ever-evolving demands of the 21st-century workforce, ensuring that students receive a comprehensive and relevant education during their crucial middle school years. Our teachers use materials approved by our governing team of WCPSS educational leaders.
