Ms. Melanie Mackanic
My name is Melanie Mackanic. I am thrilled to be teaching English as a Second Language this year. This is my 19th year in WCPSS. For the past 8 years I have been teaching reading intervention and ESL. This is my third year at Oakview
I am originally from Texas and graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Education. I earned my M. Ed. in Reading at Meredith College in 2015.
I am married to Jeff Mackanic and have 3 grown children. I have a three year old granddaughter and a 4 month old grandson. We have lived in Cary for 21 years.
In my spare time, I love to be in nature, going on walks and hikes. I enjoy reading biographies and non-fiction books.
I am excited to be part the Oakview staff and community!
