My name is Carole Ray and I’m thrilled to be teaching physical education at Yates Mill Elementary. I have been teaching PE for 10 years, all at the elementary level. Prior to that I was a kindergarten, 1st grade and 2nd grade teacher, all in NC. I earned my BA in elementary education from UNCW and my MA in physical education from UNCP.

I grew up in Westchester County NY, moved to NC for college and decided to call NC my permanent home. I have 3 kids: a 19 year old daughter and 2 sons, 21 and 23. I have a dog named Jesse who is obsessed with my location. For fun I like to swim, play pickleball, kayak and take long walks outside. A doctor once told my mother, “Walking is better than any prescription I could write you”. I also enjoy reading, listening to music and watching documentaries. 

I love teaching a class that kids look forward to attending! We focus on movement concepts, muscle memory, motor skills, cooperative learning, personal and social behaviors and sportsmanship. My goal is to introduce a variety of fitness and sports related activities so that students develop a lifelong passion for exercising. Keep moving everyone!!!
