• Principal Message for May 26, 2026
    Greetings Carroll Families,
    I hope the long weekend allowed some time for rest and relaxation. The following updates pertain to events for this and upcoming weeks. 


    Upcoming events:
    May 25 - Holiday
    May 29 - 8th Science EOG testing
    June 1 - Math 1 EOC (7th Graders)

    Band students are scheduled to perform the National Anthem at the Durham Bulls Game on June 5, 2026. Tickets can be purchased online if you are interested in supporting our students. Parents of band students can use the link shared in the letter sent home by Mr. Dickson. 

    The last day for book check out is May 29, 2026. Students who have checked out library books must return all books by June 5, 2026. 8th graders must turn in all books to the library prior to June 5, 2026. 

    EOGs begin this week for selected students, in addition 8th Grade EOG Science test is Friday May 29, 2026. Please be sure to encourage students to study notes and take advantage of using Delta Math, Dreambox and Freckle to prepare for EOGs. We know our students can be successful as long as they take the next few days to study, rest, and focus on the coming days. In preparation for EOGs students must charge devices and have them in school daily beginning this week.

    8th Grade Families - Please see the following information in preparation for moving up ceremony. This information is being shared early to ensure everyone is informed of what to expect. 

    • Doors will open at 8am; not before
    • Entrance to Moving Up ceremony will be Gym Area
    • Ceremony is from 8:30am - 9:30am
    • Each student can invite 4 guests
    • Dress rehearsal is schedule the day prior to the moving up ceremony
    • Parents will be asked to fill out a Google form https://bit.ly/8cmms26
    • Refreshments will be served after ceremony
    • No balloons or posters allowed inside gym
    • Parking information will be shared in the coming days.

    Please see request for proctor letter. This year we are reaching out to parents and local business community to partner with us to ensure we have proctors for EOGs. Please see contact information for staff in the event you are able to volunteer your time.

    Academics

    EOG testing is this week and next week. All students must adhere to cellphone policy as expected during the year. Phones must be off and placed in lockers during the day.  To prepare for testing students are encouraged to study notes, review EOG released tests and NC Test sites. Parents continue to ese this bit.ly/waag25 to track what your child is learning the final days of school.

    Schoolwide Expectations

    This is a reminder to speak with your child about following the district cell phone policy. Students who violate this policy will be subject to consequences, including requiring a parent to pick up a confiscated phone. Additionally, any student found with a cell phone or smart device during testing will face testing consequences in accordance with district and state guidelines.


    School Attendance

    As a reminder, school hours are 7am to 2:15pm. The tardy bell rings at 7:30am. Early Check out cut off 1:45pm. Parents who arrive after 1:45pm for check out will be directed to carpool for pick up.

    All students are expected to be in school for the full school day.  It’s flu season, students who are experiencing the following symptoms should stay home using the guidance below:

    • Fever of 100.4 or higher (24 hrs fever free without fever-reducing medication)
    • Diarrhea (12 hrs free of symptoms)
    • Nausea and Vomiting (12 hrs free of symptoms)                                     
    • Severe headache
    • Red, watery eyes with yellow discharge, Undiagnosed rash
