This is my 15th year teaching 5th grade at Baucom. I was born in Apex, North Carolina and attended Elementary school here at Baucom! I also went to both Apex Middle and Apex High School. I graduated from UNC-Wilmington in 2008 with a degree in Elementary Education. I am a huge Duke, Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Braves fan!

Mr. David Wingfield (2nd over)
I have been a part of Wake County Public schools since 2022 and I have been here at Baucom since March 2024. I grew up in Danville, VA and relocated to the RDU area in 2022 soon after completing my Bachelor’s of Science, Psychology. I am currently working on obtaining my Master’s of Social Work, Individual and Family Therapy. In my free time I enjoy listening to all genres of music, reading, and watching 90’s/2000’s television series.

Ms. Casey Byrne - Reading/Social Studies (3rd over)
This is my 6th year teaching at Baucom and my 14th year teaching ELA in Wake County. I also spent 4 years teaching school in Ireland! I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA and am a huge Steeler fan, just like Mr. Stack! I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Villanova University and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education from DePaul University. I have a 16 year old daughter and a crazy lab mix named Charlie. :) Our favorite place to be is the beach! We enjoy traveling, spending time outdoors, paddle boarding, and watching sports. I am looking forward to getting to know my students and their families this year and to a fun, successful school year at Baucom!

Mrs. Lauren Kessler- Math/Science (4th over)
I’m excited for another great year at Baucom Elementary! I grew up in New York and moved to North Carolina nearly ten years ago. Since then, I have taught 5th grade in WCPSS. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Childhood and Special Education from SUNY Geneseo and a Master’s degree in Math, Science, and Technology Education from St. John Fisher College. Additionally, I am certified in Academically or Intellectually Gifted Education and am a National Board Certified Teacher. In my free time, I enjoy reading, hiking, playing board games, and traveling.
Mrs. Avalyn Jones (5th over)
I was born in Jamaica and hold a BSc. in Middle Grades Education from Western Carolina University and a M.Ed. in Learning Design and Technology from North Carolina State University. My teaching journey spans from 2nd to 6th grade. I have enjoyed teaching upper grades and have 8 years of experience in 5th grade. Beyond the classroom, I enjoy cooking, traveling and reading.I have a son who is in Kindergarten at Baucom this year. For this school year, I look forward to fostering a supportive learning environment where students are challenged to reach their full potential.
