  • What is the Lynn Road Lions Delicious Deli? 

     

    The Lynn Road Lions Delicious Deli is a school-based food pantry. School-based food pantries are located on the grounds of the school and are intended to serve students and their families at a safe and easy-to-access point in their communities. They are designed to help individuals or families subsidize their food supply with additional supplies, thereby decreasing food insecurity in our community.  School pantries provide a welcoming and convenient space for students and their families who may be experiencing food insecurity to access nutritious food. Lynn Road Food Pantry is a judgment-free zone. A student can grab a snack during the school day. Additionally, families can come in and choose from a balanced selection of shelf-stable foods, fresh produce, and even meats, as well as toiletries and other necessary household goods.  

     

    Where is the Lynn Road Lions Delicious Deli located?  

    The Lynn Road Lions Delicious Deli is located at Lynn Road Elementary (1601 Lynn Road Raleigh, NC 27612) in the Student Services Wing.  

     

    Who does the Lynn Road Lions Delicious Deli Serve?  

    The Lynn Road Lions Delicious Deli is open to ANY student or staff member that attends school in or works for the Wake County Public School System. 

     

    How much does the Lynn Road Lions Delicious Deli charge for services?  

    There is NO charge for services. Everything is 100% free of charge. No exceptions.  

     

    Confidentiality  

    All shopping occurs by appointment and each shopper/family will have their own time slot to shop in private. Before shopping or receiving food, patrons must complete a registration form in person. This information is confidential and only limited information such as family demographics will be shared with Interfaith Food Shuttle and other community agencies that are partnering with the Lynn Road Lions Delicious Deli for data keeping purposes. At no point, will your personal information such as your name or address be shared with anyone. This personal information is limited to the School Social Worker who is heading the Deli.  

     

    How does the Lynn Road Lions Delicious Deli maintain its supply? 

    Lynn Road Lions Delicious Deli is mainly sponsored by Interfaith Food Shuttle. Donations are also received from local community agencies such as Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Lowes, Walmart and Target. We are also partnered with local churches, including Asbury Baptist Church, St Marks, Providence Baptist Church and North Haven Church. We also receive many generous donations through the PTA and through staff members and families of Lynn Road. 

     

    How can I contribute to the Lynn Road Lions Delicious Deli?  

    If you would like to make a contribution to the Lynn Road Lions Delicious Deli, you can write a check to Lynn Road Elementary School with the memo: “Delicious Deli.” You can mail it to 1601 Lynn Road Raleigh NC 27612 or you can drop it at the front office or place it in the box outside of the School Social Workers office. You can also drop physical donations off at the front office or leave them in the bin behind the door in the office.

     

    What items are available at the Lynn Road Lions Delicious Deli?  

    Lynn Road Lions Delicious Deli does NOT serve hot meals nor ready-to-go meals. The Deli offers nonperishable food items as well as a variety of cold items including but not limited to meats, frozen foods, milk, yogurt, cheese, produce, eggs, etc. Inventory varies based on supply and demand. No items are guaranteed to be in stock. Special requests can be made based on family needs but are not guaranteed to be fulfilled.  

     

    What can I contribute to the Lynn Road Delicious Deli?  

    ALL items must be unopened in new condition.  

    We can accept nonperishable food donations that are unexpired and unopened.  

    We can accept gift cards for gas and Uber/Lyft fares for our families who lack transportation to get their children to school or to come shop in the pantry. 

    We can accept gift cards from grocery stores for Lynn Road to shop for needed items for the pantry.  

    We can accept hygienic items and toiletries such as paper towels, napkins, paper utensils, toilet paper, feminine hygiene items, toothpaste, razors, shaving cream, body wash, soap, loofahs, shampoo & conditioner, household cleaning supplies, diapers, pullups, hand sanitizer, kleenex, trash bags, etc.  

     

    What are the operating hours for the Lynn Road Lions Delicious Deli?  

    Lynn Road Lions Delicious Deli will operate beginning the second month of each school year until one week before the end of the school year.  

    Shopping is scheduled by appointment only. You may call, email, or class dojo Serena Salitros, School Social Worker to schedule your appointment. (Contact information listed at bottom of page) 

    No walk-ins will be accepted. Each family may visit the pantry once per month. Exceptions can be made in extenuating circumstances.  

    Lynn Road Lions Delicious Deli will operate on the WCPSS traditional calendar. The Deli will NOT operate during the summer months. If you need community resources for food support during the summer, this information can be provided to you by the School Social Worker, Serena Salitros.  

     

    Good to Know Before You Go 

    Lynn Road Delicious Deli is a “School Choice Pantry”, which means the shopper chooses what they want to take home in an effort to reduce food waste.  

    Lynn Road is a big advocate for encouraging student reading. In an effort to promote reading, each shopper will be given the opportunity to choose a donated book from the Deli to take home along with their food, free of charge.
