We hope you had a relaxing and enjoyable holiday break! As we return to the school routine, here are a few key updates:

• DMV Appointments Require Prior Approval: Please be aware that DMV appointments are not automatically excused. To have a DMV absence considered excused, you must submit the Educational Absence form in advance for approval. This form is available on our school website under the Attendance section.

• Interim Reports Coming Soon: Interim reports will be distributed soon. We encourage parents and guardians to check Infinite Campus regularly to stay informed about your student’s grades and academic progress.

• Academic Support Opportunities: If your student would benefit from extra help, we offer remediation and Study Hall sessions during the school day. Please follow up with your child's Alltimely App to sign them up for support. 

Dear Wakefield Wolverine Families,

I hope this message finds you well as we head into the Thanksgiving break.

First, I want to offer a huge congratulations to our Girls Flag Football team, who brought home the State Championship title this past Saturday! These student-athletes have shown outstanding dedication, teamwork, and resilience throughout the season. Their victory is a testament to their hard work and the support of our coaches, families, and school community. Please join me in celebrating this incredible achievement – we are so proud of them!

As we approach the holiday, please be reminded of our adjusted schedule for the week:

✅ School will be in session on Monday (Nov. 24) and Tuesday (Nov. 25).
❌ There will be no school on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday (Nov. 26–28) in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

We encourage everyone to take this time to rest, recharge, and spend quality time with family and friends. On behalf of our entire staff, thank you for your continued support of Wakefield High School.

Dear Wakefield High School Families,

As many of you all are aware a student-led demonstration took place on campus today, beginning at approximately 8:45 AM. Around 350–400 students participated in this peaceful, student-initiated event, which took place at entrance to the school's campus. 

While staff did not organize or participate in the demonstration, we were present to supervise and ensure student safety throughout. The demonstration concluded by 9:20 AM, and participating students returned to class without further disruption to the school day.

While the majority of students demonstrated respectfully, a few incidents did occur involving students throwing empty water bottles and other small items into the air. These actions were addressed according to our school’s disciplinary procedures.

As a school community, we value and respect students’ rights to express themselves in appropriate, peaceful ways. We remain committed to maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.

📸 Senior Pictures – Thursday, November 20
CADY will be on campus to take senior yearbook portraits. Appointments are already scheduled, and students will receive their passes during 2nd period classes next week.

• For the tux photo, students should wear a plain white T-shirt.

• For the drape photo, students should wear a spaghetti strap shirt.

• All other items will be provided by CADY.

Students who miss their appointment must book a session at www.CADY.com no later than December 1st to appear in the yearbook.

⛳ Men’s Varsity Golf Interest Meeting – November 18 at 2:30 p.m.
Students interested in trying out for the team should attend a meeting in Room 3218 on Tuesday, November 18 at 2:30 p.m.

📚 Academic Support Reminder
Families, please encourage your students to check Infinite Campus regularly for grades and assignments, and to take full advantage of PACK Time for tutoring and academic support. Staying current now will help set them up for success throughout the year.

📄 Report Cards Issued:
Report cards were distributed last Friday. If you have concerns about your child's grades or academic progress, we strongly encourage you to contact their teachers or school counselor to schedule a conference. Early communication is key to supporting student success.

🕘 Pack Time Reminder:
Pack Time is a valuable opportunity built into the school day for students to receive academic support, make up assignments, or participate in enrichment activities. Please encourage your student to attend Pack Time regularly to stay on track and get the help they need.

📅 No School on Tuesday, November 11:
There will be no school this Tuesday in observance of Veterans Day. We are grateful for the service of all veterans in our community.

⏰ Tardy Policy Reset:
Tardy counts reset as of last Friday. Please remind your student that arriving to class on time is essential. The updated tardy consequences are as follows:

• 3 tardies – Lunch Detention

• 6 tardies – Additional Lunch Detention

• 9 and 12 tardies – In-School Suspension (ISS)

• 15 or more – May result in suspension

🌍 Amnesty International Club:
Amnesty International is still accepting new members! The club meets most Wednesdays during Pack Time A in Room 210. Students collaborate on projects that raise awareness of human rights issues. New members are welcome!

🎤 Spoken Word Contest Opportunities:
Calling all student poets!

• The United Arts/Raleigh Fine Arts Spoken Word Contest deadline is November 9.

• The Poetry Out Loud Contest deadline is November 21.

Flyers and QR codes with more information are posted in the school library. Encourage your student to share their voice and get involved!

Students currently enrolled in an AP course must order their AP exam by Friday, November 7.

• Exams can be ordered directly through AP Classroom.

• Free of charge for enrolled students.

• Late orders after Nov. 7 will incur a $40 late fee.

• Students who order but do not test will be charged a $40 unused exam fee.

📸 Make-Up Picture Day – Thursday, November 6
For 9th–11th graders, Make-Up Picture Day will be held in the Media Center.
This is the final opportunity to have your photo taken for the yearbook. Please refer to the posted schedule for your time.

🎓 Senior Cap & Gown Meeting – Monday, October 27
Herff Jones will be on campus to meet with all seniors and share information about ordering caps, gowns, and class rings. Students will be called to the auditorium near the end of first period. Those with late arrival should plan to be on campus by 8:30 a.m. to attend.

📸 Senior Yearbook Photos – Thursday, November 20
Cady will return to campus to take yearbook photos for seniors who have not yet had a session. Appointments will be pre-scheduled, and passes will be delivered to students. More details will be shared as the date approaches.

You can view or order school pictures from Picture Day at http://cady.com/orderphotos. Retakes for grades 9–11 will take place on Thursday, November 6.

Interested in healthcare, athletic training, or sports science? The Wakefield High School Sports Medicine Program is seeking motivated students to join the team for winter and spring seasons.
This is a hands-on opportunity to work alongside certified athletic trainers, physical therapists, and orthopedic surgeons. No prior experience is required—just a positive attitude and a willingness to learn!

🚗 Student Parking Lot Safety Reminder

We’ve received increased reports of unsafe driving in the student parking lot. Please speak with your student about:

• Speed limits

• Safe turning practices

• Being alert while walking or driving

A parking ticket line item has been added to School Cash Online for grades 10–12. This is not a fine, but simply a new item—no action is required unless contacted directly.
