    Weekly Memo:  Good evening Silver Hawk families, this is Principal Carter Hillman with your Weekly Memo:

    • All information provided in this Memo is posted on the VMCCA website under the “Principal’s Message.”
    • Parents and Students: Spring Break is this week! There will be no school for students from Monday, March 16, through Friday, March 20th.  Students begin their fourth quarter on Monday, March 23rd.
    • Senior Parents:  Please make sure your student has reserved their spot on the bus for the senior trip.  The cost is $35 and partial payments are now accepted on the VMCCA website online payment portal. The final due date for all payments is tomorrow, March 23rd. 
    • Parents: The VMCCA PTSA would like for you to save-the-date, Thursday, April 23rd, to attend the Create with Kindness event sponsored by PTSA, open to all students and caregivers. Dinner will be provided. Please visit the PTSA website on the VMCCA webpage for more details.

    • Seniors/Senior Parents:  If you haven't completed the FAFSA, it's time to get started!  Need help/have questions?  Contact Audrey Lee, Financial Aid Advisor at anlee@wcpss.net.
    • Senior Parents and Students: Jostens will be on campus tomorrow, Monday, March 9th to deliver Cap and Gown and senior products during lunch hours.
    • Juniors:  All VMCCA juniors will participate in ACT testing this Wednesday, March 11th during the morning hours. North Carolina requires all students take the ACT during their junior year.   
    • Senior Parents:  Please make sure your student has reserved their spot on the bus for the senior trip.  The cost is $35 and partial payments are now being accepted on the VMCCA website online payment portal. The final due date for all payments is March 23rd. 
    • Freshmen Parents: VMCCA is happy to partner with the International Civil Rights Museum in Greensboro on a virtual field trip for all freshmen this Wednesday, March 11th.  From a VMCCA classroom, freshmen will be taken on a live, guided tour by museum staff.  If you do not want your student to participate in this, please email Ms. King at tking2@wcpss.net. No later than next Monday, March 9th.  You can also reach Ms. King at this email if you have any questions.
    • Parents: As part of our commitment to student safety and well-being in addition to a new state law, all WCPSS middle and high schools are required to show the Protecting Our Students videos to students in grades 6-12 each year.  The training will take place this Friday, March 13th.

    • Parents: As a part of Severe Weather Awareness Week in North Carolina, all public school students are required to participate in an annual Severe Weather Drill on Wednesday, March 4th.  VMCCA will be participating in this drill.
    • Seniors/Senior Parents:  If you haven't completed the FAFSA, it's time to get started!  Need help/have questions?  Contact Audrey Lee, Financial Aid Advisor at anlee@wcpss.net.
    • Freshmen Parents: This Tuesday, March 3rd, freshmen students currently enrolled in Health and PE will receive the Human Trafficking Awareness lesson during their class period. The parent letter with additional information was sent home on Friday, February 20th.
    • Parents: As part of our commitment to student safety and well-being in addition to a new state law, all WCPSS middle and high schools are required to show the Protecting Our Students videos to students in grades 6-12 each year.  Your student has received a parent letter, and an email has been sent to you with access to the video links and process for opting out.

    • VMCCA would like to congratulate our own Mrs. Sarah Greene, on her selection as a Semi-Finalist for Wake County Teacher of the Year.
    • Juniors/Junior Parents: This Tuesday and Wednesday, February 24th and 25th, all juniors will participate in ACT Bootcamp in the Media Center to prepare for taking the ACT in March.

    • Parents and Students: This is a reminder that tomorrow, Monday, February 16th has been changed to a regular school day for students.  This is to replace the inclement weather day on Monday, February 2nd.
    • Senior Parents: If your student is interested in pursuing Grade 13 next year, please have them fill out and return the Grade 13 Intent Form.  The form can be picked up from the front office or from Mrs. Beaudry.  The forms need to be submitted by tomorrow, Monday, February 16th.  As a reminder, Grade 13 students walk with their graduating class but do not receive their diploma until completion of Grade 13.  If you have any questions, please reach out to Tracy Taylor at ttaylor5@wcpss.net or contact Gina Beaudry.

    • Parents and Students: Please be advised that WCPSS has been approved to use “Remote Learning” days in lieu of school cancellations when there is inclement weather.  These days would be asynchronous learning days where the teachers have prepared assignments and added them to their Canvas classrooms for students to complete on that day.  Teachers are available during school hours to answer questions and support students’ learning.
    • Seniors/Senior Parents:  If you haven't completed the FAFSA, it's time to get started!  Need help/have questions?  Contact Audrey Lee, Financial Aid Advisor at Anlee@wcpss.net.
    • Senior Parents: This is the final call for cap and gown orders.     • Parents and Students: There will be no school tomorrow, Monday, January 19th due to the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.  School will be closed to students and staff.
    • Parents: All students received their first semester report cards last Tuesday during first period.  If you have any questions, please contact the school.
    • Senior Parents: This is the final call for cap and gown orders. If you have not ordered the cap and gown for graduation, please visit the VMCCA Homepage and look for the Green Banner at the top of the page.  Orders must be placed by February 2nd at the latest for students to possibly pick them up on Tuesday, March 9th, during lunch. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Ormond at dormond@wcpss.net.

    Weekly Memo:  Good evening Silver Hawk families, this is Principal Carter Hillman with your Weekly Memo:

    • Parents and Students: VMCCA’s Meet the Teacher Night is this Thursday, January 15th from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.  This will provide parents the opportunity to meet their students' second semester teacher and receive an overview of the courses their students will be taking.
    • Parents: At the end of January students will begin to register for their courses for the 26-27 school year.  Counselors will assist with this process; however, we encourage you and your students to prepare by reviewing all of the registration materials available on the VMCCA website under Student Life, Student Services, Registration 26-27.  Once registration is complete, course verification sheets will be sent home for your review (late March/early April).  Reach out to Tracy Taylor, Dean of Students,  for questions regarding registration.
