- Fall Final Exam from Monday, December 15th, through Friday, December 19th. The official exam schedule is posted on the VMCCA homepage. Look for the green banner at the top of the page. Students who do not have final exams on a given day should not attend school on that day.
- Seniors: For seniors to be exempt from teacher-made exams, you need to have an A or B grade average and ten or fewer absences (excused or unexcused) from that class. This does not include State-based EOC’s or CTE exams.
- Parents and Students: VMCCA will be closed from Monday, December 22nd, through Friday, January 2nd. We hope that you and your family enjoy the Winter Break. Students return to start their second semester classes on Wednesday, January 7th.
- Attention Parents: VMCCA is now participating in the WCPSS School Based Mental Health (SBMH) program. Any student with social-emotional or behavioral needs may be referred for concerns such as grief, coping skills, peer relationships, and anxiety. SBMH sessions can take place in person or online. Contact your student’s counselor for more information.
- Parents: Neuse River Middle School is hosting a Families Emotional Wellbeing Night on Thursday, January 15th, from 5:00 to 7:30 PM. This is a free event open to all WCPSS students and their families. Dinner will be provided.

- Parents and Students: In preparation for the upcoming Fall Final Exams, those students who wish to leave campus early, after the end of their exam times, need to have a signed Parent Permission Form. Those who do not have a signed form will need a parent to enter the building to sign a student out early. Please note that no students will be allowed to leave classrooms early while exams are still in progress. Forms can be found in the front office and need to be returned tomorrow, Monday, December 8th.
- Parents and Students: All students will participate in Mandatory Hawks Nest this Monday, December 8th, through Thursday, December 11th, to prepare for Fall Final Exams.
- Parents: The PTSA, in preparation for final exam week, is requesting individually wrapped snacks for exam survival kits that will be distributed to all classrooms during exam week. Please keep in mind that some students have peanut allergies. Ideas include Granola and Breakfast Bars, Chips, Fruit snacks, popcorn, mini muffins, and whatever your student says they would like to have for a snack during exam week. Snacks must be individually wrapped and non-perishable (no refrigeration). Snacks can be dropped off in the office any time, and the PTSA will organize them for distribution.

- Parents: there will be no school for students and staff this Wednesday through Friday, November 26th through the 28th, due to the Thanksgiving Holiday. The building will be closed for business on those days. Students will return to school on Monday, December 1st.
- Senior Families: The State of North Carolina now offers seniors the opportunity to earn the "Civics Proficiency Diploma Endorsement" for successfully answering questions from the US Naturalization test. Seniors can take the test once per semester during their senior year. Information about this was shared in homerooms on November 7th. Students who have questions can speak with Mr. Schlafer.

- Parents and Students: Due to the impact of the government shutdown extension, Wake County has provided additional information on resources to support families. This information can be found on the VMCCA Homepage under Announcements near the bottom of the page.

- Parents and Students: There will be no school this Tuesday, November 11th due to the Veterans Day Holiday and Wednesday, November 12th due to a WCPSS Teacher Workday.

- Freshmen Parents and Students: VMCCA will also be providing the opportunity for all Freshmen students to take the PSAT on Thursday, October 30th in the morning. This exam is also open to all other students who have applied to take the exam.
- Parents and Students: VMCCA STUCO is sponsoring its fall spirit week event during the week of October 27th through the 31st. Details for each day’s theme is posted on the bulletin board by the cafeteria.
- Seniors/Senior Parents: The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is OPEN. Need help/have questions? Contact our Financial Aid Advisor, Audrey Lee, at anlee@wcpss.net.
- Parents and Students: There will be no school for students on Tuesday, November 4th due to a WCPSS Teacher Workday.
- Parents and Students: A reminder as temperatures are beginning to fall, VMCCA can be a cold building. We do not allow students to wear blankets around in the building. Please be certain to dress warmly as we move toward the winter months.

- Sophomores and Parents: All sophomores will be taking the PreACT this Tuesday, October 21st during the morning hours at school.
- VMCCA will also be providing the opportunity for all Freshmen students to take the PSAT on Thursday, October 30th in the morning. This exam is also open to all other students who have applied to take the exam.
- Students: VMCCA STUCO is sponsoring the Fall Festival and Dance this Friday, October 24th. Please listen to school announcements on times and ticket sales for these events.
- Seniors/Senior Parents - Free College Application Week is this week, October 20th through the 26th. During this week, students can apply to college (see list of participating schools) and apply at cfnc.org. In preparation for this week, please complete your student’s RDS (Residency Determination Service) also through CFNC.

- A special VMCCA thanks goes out to all who came out to the school last Saturday to support the Campus Beautification Day and Car Wash. Both were a great success.
- Students - VMCCA in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month has scheduled a Spirit Week for this upcoming week, October 13th through October 17th. Please see the school calendar located near the cafeteria for daily themes.
- Parents and Students: Underclassmen Makeup Photos will be taken this Thursday, October 16th in the CCC Room.
- Sophomores and Parents: All sophomores will be taking the PreACT on Tuesday, October 21st during the morning hours at school.
- Students: VMCCA STUCO is sponsoring the Fall Festival and Dance on Friday, October 24th. Please listen to school announcements on times and ticket sales for these events.

- Carpool Parents: We are asking that you please do not drop off or pick up your students in the visitors' parking area. We have had several near-miss accidents with students attempting to cross the street. We have many inexperienced drivers as learners-permit students who are driving to and from school. Driving around the loop takes an extra 20 seconds. Students can be dropped off anywhere along the sidewalk on the side of the school, not just at the front.
