Welcome to East Millbrook Magnet Middle School – My name is Aaron Marcin, and I am the Lead Learner here at the Academy of Arts and Design. I joined the East Millbrook family in 2019, bringing 20 years of experience in teaching and learning throughout North Carolina. Before coming to the Academy, I served as a Principal, Assistant Principal, and a teacher in Wake, Durham, and Chatham counties.

I was raised the oldest of six children by two amazing parents in a rural village in Michigan. After graduating from high school, I attended Indiana University, moved to NC, and began my teaching career. After nine years, I obtained my Master’s in School Administration at NC State and moved into a school administrator role. Coming to East Millbrook Magnet Middle School has been the most rewarding and fulfilling experience of my career. It is my greatest honor to build and maintain meaningful relationships with our students, our staff, and the school community of East Millbrook.

We are excited to begin the 2024-2025 school year by focusing on empowering students, teachers and families within the EM3 community.  The amazing instructional team of adults at EM3 have worked hard over the past years to ensure that they are building positive relationships with students, making the instruction and experiences relevant to students and providing rigorous learning opportunities for every child.

When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family and sharing the fun and exciting experiences with our two boys and all that they enjoy out of life.

I look forward to seeing and connecting with you soon!

My name is Brittanie McCants, and I am excited to serve as the 6th Assistant Principal this year. I started at EM3 in 2020, and served as the 8th Grade Assistant Principal until 2024. I am originally from South Charleston, West Virginia, where I lived until moving to Charlotte, NC, during my middle school years. I later moved to the Triangle to attend the NC School of Science and Math (go Unis!), and stayed to complete my Bachelor of Arts degrees in Middle Grades Education and my Master of School Administration at UNC-Chapel Hill.
As for my experience in education, I have taught: middle school Social Studies, English/Language Arts, English as a Second Language, and Special Education. After school, I have coached volleyball, Track & Field, and All-County Chorus.
Outside of school, I enjoy reading, being a "for fun" Nail Technician and Make-Up Artist, traveling to new countries, and trying out new kitchen gadgets. My favorite time of all, however, is spent with my husband, our daughter, and our two dogs.

Hello EM3 families! My name is Jordache Artis and I will be the 7th Grade Assistant Principal at East Millbrook Magnet Middle School.  This will be my first year serving as the 7th grade Assistant Principal and I'm very excited about this new opportunity! Prior to being the 6th grade AP, I served as the 6th grade AP for several years.

I'm originally from Chesapeake, VA. I moved to Raleigh, NC in 2000. I attended Shaw University in Downtown Raleigh, where I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education in 2005.  Upon graduating, I was fortunate enough to find a teaching position. I served as a 5th grade teacher at Harris Creek Elementary School from 2005-2011. While teaching at Harris Creek, I decided to pursue my Masters in School Administration from North Carolina State University.  After receiving my master's degree, I became the Assistant Principal at Durant Elementary School, where I worked from 2011-2018. I joined the East Millbrook family in 2018, where I served as the 6th grade Assistant Principal
I'm so excited to spend this year continuing to build relationships with students, teachers, and parents, as we work together to create a safe and orderly environment for all students, where they can grow in our new Arts and Design magnet theme to expand their learning.
