Humanities

  • The Humanities Department at Broughton offers courses in history and the social sciences.  We strive to prepare students for the 21st century by honing critical thinking, analysis, writing, and rhetoric.  Our courses connect with Broughton High School’s Global Studies Magnet program and we offer six IB courses.

All students take courses in Civics & Economics, World History, and American History.  We offer a variety of levels and pairing for students to meet the requirements in a way that best suits them.  Students may also explore Law & Justice, Government & Politics, Human Geography, Psychology, and IB Theory of Knowledge as elective courses.

The Humanities teachers are dedicated lifelong learners.  We attend seminars and conferences all over the United States to add to our wealth of knowledge, we are presenters in our fields of study, we work with local Universities, and we are noted curriculum and assessment writers.  Our department members also explore the world with our students through international travel, local field trips, and with many of the clubs that we advise.
