Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources

Dr. Muttillo is proud to have served the Wake County Public School System for his entire career in education. After beginning his career in 1997 as a middle school English teacher, he has held a variety of school-based leadership roles, including tenures as a middle school and high school principal.  Dr. Muttillo holds the follwing degrees: Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from East Stroudsburg University (PA), Master of School Administration from North Carolina State University, and Doctor of Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.   

Assistant Superintendent for Facilities Design and Construction
Dave Burnett | dburnett@wcpss.net

Dave Burnett has managed school system facilities, planning, design, and construction departments for over twenty-five years and has additional experience in managing school maintenance, custodial and warehouse departments. He has developed and/or overseen over 50 new schools plus hundreds of other major capital improvement projects. Dave comes to us from Union County Public Schools where he worked for 11 years and guided them through periods of tremendous growth. President of the CEFP-NC chapter in 2004 and recognized as the chapter 2015 NC Planner of the Year, Dave has sought to provide school facilities that are forward thinking, cost effective for the long-term, and a facility a community can be proud of.

Assistant Superintendent for Academics
Drew Cook | dcook@wcpss.net

A Wake County native and the son of a long-time WCPSS educator, Drew Cook began his career as a social studies teacher and coach at Garner Magnet High School in 1997. He served as an Assistant Principal and then Principal of Garner Magnet High from 2005 to 2014. He was named the WCPSS Principal of the Year in 2011 and the North Carolina High School Principal of the Year in 2012.  Prior to becoming the Assistant Superintendent for Academics in 2019, he served in Central Services for several years as the Senior Director for High School Programs.  Mr. Cook holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from UNC-Wilmington and a Master of School Administration degree from North Carolina State University.

Assistant Superintendent for Data, Research, and Accountability
Bradley McMillen | bmcmillen@wcpss.net

After receiving his Master of Education and PhD in Education from the University of North Carolina, Dr. McMillen has held research and evaluation positions at both the state and local school district level since 1999. He has served in leadership roles for professional organizations related to educational research and assessment at the state and national level, including the North Carolina Association for Research in Education and the Directors of Research and Evaluation. Dr. McMillen has given numerous presentations to professional and community groups and published studies on a number of education topics, including school size, year-round schools, the achievement gap, and equity issues in course placements and related student outcomes.

Assistant Superintendent for Equity Affairs

Dr. Chavis serves as the Assistant Superintendent of Equity Affairs. He began his educational career as a high school mathematics teacher in the Alamance-Burlington School System. In 2010, he was appointed Assistant Principal of Fuquay-Varina High School, then became Principal of Fuquay-Varina Middle School in 2013. Three years later, he became Principal of Enloe Magnet High School, where he was named WCPSS Principal of the Year for 2018-19. In 2021 he was appointed Senior Director for Executive Leadership Coaching, and was named to his current position in 2022. Dr. Chavis holds a Master of School Administration degree from UNC-Greensboro and a Doctor of Education degree in educational administration from N.C. State University.

Finance Officer
Trisha Posey | tposey@wcpss.net

Trisha Posey has served with Wake County Public School System for 25 years.  She has a Bachelor of Science in Finance from North Carolina State University and a Master of Business Administration from Campbell University.  She began her career in accounting and transitioned to finance in 2003. She served in various financial roles, including the Director of Fiscal Compliance and as the Senior Director of Fiscal Compliance and Contract Administration before beginning her current leadership position in March 2023.

Assistant Superintendent for School Choice, Planning and Assignment
Glenn Carrozza | gcarrozza@wcpss.net

Glenn Carrozza has been a part of the Wake County Public School System as both a teacher and central office administrator since 2005. Prior to coming to North Carolina, he worked as a teacher in the state of New York where he grew up. Mr. Carrozza worked in Human Resources for the Office of Recruitment and Retention before taking on various roles in the Office of Student Assignment in 2013. He attended Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, New York, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Media Communications, as well as a Master of Science in Elementary Education.

Assistant Superintendent for Student Support Services
Michele Woodson | mwoodson@wcpss.net 

Michele Woodson has spent more than 27 years working in education. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing from East Carolina University, A Master in Elementary Education from Elon University, an Add-on Licensure for School Administration from UNC Chapel Hill, and an Ed.S. from Liberty University.  She began her career as a teacher in Alamance County, then instructional coach, assistant principal, principal, and district leader. She served as Director of Instructional Improvement in Alamance County, Director of Title I in WCPSS, Executive Director of Elementary Education and Chief Academic Officer in Orange County, and Senior Director K-12 Curriculum Development in WCPSS, before moving into the Assistant Superintendent role in November 2023.
